Remember the Super Bowl shuffle? People let these promo things slide. Not the fault of the players who are asked to do these kinds of foolish things. - bloatedmosquito

A top 5 pick is not a proper way to rebuild man. I’m hoping for a pick in the 8-13 range. Higher odds of moving up and more wins. - Nucker101
The discussion question was going toward if Canucks won the lottery for 3rd pick would it be:
Zadina, Tkachuck, Boqvist?

I'd still prefer picking later. Lower expectations for the prospect by this fanabse/media, can easily find another Boeser type to boot. |

Stetcher looked like a Tyson Barrie type dman during the first 30 games or so last year and hasn’t been the same since so it’ll be interesting to see if the same thing happens with DP.
Hutton’s best season was his rookie season as well. - Nucker101
Good teams let players develop their confidence and skill in the developmental league first, not just pop guys in the lineup cause they had a great training camp. I'm so tired of this early pattern of this rebuild of no one having to earn it. Let them pla ya full year in the AHL, do really well in that league. The only player who's been well developed on the whole team is Goldobin and that's cause he played in the SJ system already. Guys like Bo that can actually handle the pressure and get better at the NHL level are rare, most are like Hutton and Stecher where it's hard for the mto develop skill and confidence at this level. Gaunce is one of the few guys I see as actually being developed well, despite all the jokes I expect him to be a Canuck a good long while. |

JV plays either wing.
JG is a RW though.
Forgoing picking a D will delay us. - Nighthawk
I'm all for picking a D, but JV is a bottom 6 player right now. A spade is a spade, and we don't have a first line LW. |

Agree we need that LW scoring toughness. Why signing E. Kane could help. Among the holes Top D hardest to fill right now other then draft. Order of Preference Dahlin, Boqvist, Dobson, Bouchard.
Though Gadjo may be that powerfoward net front guy for Canucks. Could be elevated like a Lucic or Maroon to top 6, playing with talented Center, maybe EP? - Nuck4U
For me he's too slow for top6, whereas Tkachuk is a bit more mobile. I like Gadjovic and hope I'm wrong, but I don't see a top 6 player there. I'm hoping he can play as hard at the net at the pro level and gets faster.
I'm one of the few on here that is actually interested in seeing Kane in a Canucks Uni. If he wants to be here and focuses on hockey like he has this year in Buffalo, there's a lot to like IMO. |

wow neem, that's some solid post right there. I have also liked the way Virtanen has been brought along
But I have heard that the NHL is now a great place to develop quality prospects, not sure where I've heard this but it has been posted several times this season. |

Notice those teams are contenders in the playoffs with talent stacked vet rosters. But the cap crunch is forcing more contenders to use ELC players over role vets.
Hard to have just one stead fast rule on development. Team and player needs intertwine with opportunity and it is not linear or black and white. It is very fact specific per player and situation.

No, I have my beliefs on proper development and then there is the use and abuse system of development that some are clamouring for. This is disguised as a need or requirement, when IMO, it leads to wasted possible skilled talent. |

I did.
He should have been in Utica 2 years ago with Stetcher. I'm sure they are no longer waiver excempt but it's disappointing to see them regress and struggle. - Marwood
True but at that time our D was hardly deep enough. MG mortgaging the future exacerbated the problem & JB inherited a poor hand. Just proves what we all know that rushing prospects is bad biz & especially with D men.OJ Chatfield & Brisebois will get better development now |

I totally get where you are coming from but Hutton and Stecher clearly made the team in their rookie years. Didn’t they earn it? Sure, they earned it because we suck but they earned their opportunity all the same
Edit: I care way more about the development of Petterson, Juolevi etc...Hutton and Stecher were never blue chippers |

I’m with you on that somewhat. My reasoning is ppl put too much stock on a draft number rather than the who. EP is an example to go with BB Gaudette Tryamkin Lind JG. |
