Ah, remember the good old days when everyone was female doging about Greens choice of tenders on a nightly basis? “Give Nilly a string of games, he’s earned it.” |

I've always said losing Miller was the biggest reason this team will be bottoming out this year, the guy kept us in so many games last year. I would have liked to trade him for rebuilding purposes, but he did a hell of a job on a bad team. |

Remember the moaning against miller by certain Benning haters? We wouldn't be so embarrassing right now with his level of goaltending. |

lol...I was actually being serious in replying to ASL. Been a huge music guy since a child of the 70's but I think the run of 80's metal from around 1980-86 stands up against pretty much anything. As you mentioned Ozzy, he had a great run of 4-6 records...Priest was one of the best also from that time. Maiden may be the king of them all as their run of records from Killers to Seventh Son was truly magical. Megadeth strung together about 6 really good albums too. Metallica from Kill em all to And Justice for all was all stellar...then they just became radio garbage for the most part but their last few have been ok. Queensryche is another band that was truly exceptional for the time. Warning all the way thru Empire all excellent records with Operation Mindcrime considered top 5 all time metal albums right there with Master of Puppets and Number of the Beast. That's just scratching the surface...gotta mention standard rock like Van Halen and Rush from that era as well. Lots to mention I could honestly go on all night.
Sure the metal genre became fluffy in the late 80's as everything eventually gets saturated just like 70's rock did. But the talent level in the afore mentioned bands in that time frame was truly remarkable and I was serious in saying it's one of the best decades in music ever. I don't think we will see that level of musicianship ever again. There are good metal bands today but not like the 80's...truly unique. - LordHumungous
This is unbelievable. I agree with all that except Rush.
Love the Priest. Mindcrime album started a trend and lesser bands fell all over themselves trying to copy the feel.
Saw Queensryche live in Tacoma after Empire came out.
Tesla was another favorite. Saw them live with Def Leppard |

On the other hand, we'll likely nosedive without him and it's better for the Tank. |

I have heard the new Metallica...quite good especially the first half of the album. Death Magnetic left a lot to be desired so it was good to hear Hardwired was solid.
You certainly could make an argument that Iron Maiden is in a class of their own. Their consistency level is basically unmatched from the genre...and even when Dichenson returned for 'Brave New World' that was a killer return to fame album for them. Dichenson's solo albums are actually very accomplished as well and also very 'Maiden' like.
I was fortunate enough to see Queensryche do Operation Mindcrime live in it's entirety with Tate still there. He had lost a bit of vocal range by then but still the show was amazing. Degarmo had left by then and the infighting pretty much started right after and became quite comical. Tate's solo stuff is awful but the new singer Queensryche has sounds pretty much identical to Tate's old vocal ranges. Actually their last few releases have been quite good. 'Condition Human' is the latest and it is very well done much like the new Metallica is.
There is a reason many critics and fans alike consider Master of Puppets to be the greatest heavy metal album of all time. Not only does it represent the peak of the genre...it is a true masterpiece front to back. Musically/Lyrically it is unreal. top 5 all time for sure right there with Number of the Beast and Operation Mindcrime. You could even toss Slayers 'Reign in Blood' in there if you were a fan of early thrash metal at all. - LordHumungous
Priest has to be in there for any top five. They inspired a lot of bands and it was essentially touring with Priest that Iron maiden learned a lot about musicianship and being a band killing it every night for the fans. |

True... it's just ironic that the same ones complaining about Benning signing miller are complaining about having no goaltending this year.... |

Yeah, that's true. A lot of that goes on. Time changes everything! I didn't like the Miller signing because I wanted us to tank |

Tanev is one of the best defensive defense man in the league, he is atrocious at offense but if paired properly he would be a great addition to the rangers. The Canucks are not going anywhere in terms of success for a few years, so Tanev to the Rangers for picks and/or prospects could be possible, (if he waived to go there).
AV is very familiar with him, what's the offer? - Makita

Skjei may be the only untouchable on the roster.
Lias is up there too, despite being labeled crap by some of our "fans". |

Yeah, i don't think he's untouchable for Sather though. I understand you might hate it, but Shattenkirk and Deangelo make Skjei tradable asset IMO. Especially if what they are bringing back is Tanev. Trade makes a lot of sense given that Tanev has played very well under AV. Good Idea for a trade partner! |

Why sign Shattenkirk then? I hate the Signing, personally, no matter who NYR has in the lineup. But to take the kid off of the powerplay after a huge breakout year and go out and sign Shatt-n-pants? and pick up deangelo? odd moves IMO |

Fortunately Sather is no longer calling the shots.
DeAngelo is a work in progress and given Skjei's age and skill I don't see the Rangers moving him. It looks like he will surpass McDonagh eventually and is a left handed shot.
I know a lot of fans on both sides over value their assets at times but I am unsure Tanev is worth losing the youth that is already in the system. I could handle a pick or two and a decent prospect, but not some of the top end talent the Rangers are already a bit thin on. |

I would definitely never trade away Skjei, but Sather is the President and I have a hard time believing he isn't still calling the shots. You'd know better than me, as I'm no NYR fan, but that's my suspicion. It definitely depends on if they want to try to win with Hank while his window is closing or rebuild around some of the very talented young guys they have. I suspect they still want to win with Hank, so that means they are buyers at the trade deadline. I'd be happy with 1st and a prospect, but even happier if old wild card Glen was to overpay and give up Skjei. |
