Hes terrible, not much more you can say. Goalies have to give you a chance to win and letting in softies is not the way to do it.
- Bettmanhatesus

he started the year very well, wonder what has happened. Perhaps sleep loss after his kid was born?
Otherwise perhaps cloutier isnt the right goalie coach for him if he's gone downhill

Vanek and Boeser still look dangerous. But outside of Dowd looking solid and Chaput showing balls that Sutter wish he had, there wasn't much positive to come out of this game. Speaking of Sutter, that guy is officially the Tanev of forwards, except not as good.

Edler on the PP is WD-level of insanity, the guy is too stupid offensively to be the point man on the PP.

Gagner and LE are soft serve cream puffs and passengers on their lines. These guys are luxury pieces you add to a contending team. Not stabilizing vets or even stopgaps for rebuilding teams. 9M combined with multiple years still left....(frank) off. And no GM will be stupid enough to take these guys and I don't want any young guys watching and "learning" from these twinkies. Brutal signings. I'd rather overpay Gudbranson. It's actually infuriating watching these guys play when you know what their contracts look like and how much term is left as well.

You can't rip Nonis/Gillis for their contracts and then just write off these stupid ass signings for Benning. Hopefully Vantel decides to "Yann Sauve" them both #LTIR

lol...I was actually being serious in replying to ASL. Been a huge music guy since a child of the 70's but I think the run of 80's metal from around 1980-86 stands up against pretty much anything. As you mentioned Ozzy, he had a great run of 4-6 records...Priest was one of the best also from that time. Maiden may be the king of them all as their run of records from Killers to Seventh Son was truly magical. Megadeth strung together about 6 really good albums too. Metallica from Kill em all to And Justice for all was all stellar...then they just became radio garbage for the most part but their last few have been ok. Queensryche is another band that was truly exceptional for the time. Warning all the way thru Empire all excellent records with Operation Mindcrime considered top 5 all time metal albums right there with Master of Puppets and Number of the Beast. That's just scratching the surface...gotta mention standard rock like Van Halen and Rush from that era as well. Lots to mention I could honestly go on all night.

Sure the metal genre became fluffy in the late 80's as everything eventually gets saturated just like 70's rock did. But the talent level in the afore mentioned bands in that time frame was truly remarkable and I was serious in saying it's one of the best decades in music ever. I don't think we will see that level of musicianship ever again. There are good metal bands today but not like the 80's...truly unique.

- LordHumungous

I'll agree with all of that. There were many great bands from that time period. Maiden has to be the best and certainly most original. Still to this day it stands up as original and interesting and even with their most recent release. A certain kind of magic no one else seems to be able to capture. Kind of a pink floyd of the metal genre.
Queensryche killed everything they had going when they fired geoff tate in 2012, had their famous court battle and had 2 queensryche's until 2014. No more headlining after that crap went down.

Master of puppets was amazing I totally agree. Their new album (hardwired) is great with a refreshed sound, have you heard it?

I forgot about SRV (RIP) so the music of the 80's didn't suck after all.

Canucks should put Edler on the power play and have him set up in front of Ryan Miller to screen him, just like old times

I have heard the new Metallica...quite good especially the first half of the album. Death Magnetic left a lot to be desired so it was good to hear Hardwired was solid.

You certainly could make an argument that Iron Maiden is in a class of their own. Their consistency level is basically unmatched from the genre...and even when Dichenson returned for 'Brave New World' that was a killer return to fame album for them. Dichenson's solo albums are actually very accomplished as well and also very 'Maiden' like.

I was fortunate enough to see Queensryche do Operation Mindcrime live in it's entirety with Tate still there. He had lost a bit of vocal range by then but still the show was amazing. Degarmo had left by then and the infighting pretty much started right after and became quite comical. Tate's solo stuff is awful but the new singer Queensryche has sounds pretty much identical to Tate's old vocal ranges. Actually their last few releases have been quite good. 'Condition Human' is the latest and it is very well done much like the new Metallica is.

There is a reason many critics and fans alike consider Master of Puppets to be the greatest heavy metal album of all time. Not only does it represent the peak of the genre...it is a true masterpiece front to back. Musically/Lyrically it is unreal. top 5 all time for sure right there with Number of the Beast and Operation Mindcrime. You could even toss Slayers 'Reign in Blood' in there if you were a fan of early thrash metal at all.

See, that and Skjei would be two of the non-starters I think.

Best bands in history (for me) will always be The Beatles, Rolling Stones and especially Queen (RIP Freddy Mercury)

Not bad, in fact quite good. Just from our perspective, he is the most valuable trade chip and we have concerns that his recent string of injuries will potentially hurt his trade value (also without him the team would have no chance of competing, signifying a commitment to the rebuild)

He skates well, great defensive positioning, and good moving the puck in transition. Just lacks some physicality (though takes a ton) and provides next to zero offense; an ideal complimentary partner to an offensive guy like Shattenkirk IMO

Fair enough. Thanks for the detailed write up.

Being a right handed shot it would be nice to see him paired with Skjei. Unfortunately they abandoned trying McDonagh with Shattenkirk early in the season and have not revisited it in a meaningful way. Could also try Tanev with McDonagh.

Not much available in terms of right handed D and they always cost a ton. What kind of injuries has Tanev been through?

perhaps maiden deserves it own genre.
Yes bruces stuff was great and his vocals were maiden like at time but the music wasnt even close. Youd need these guys to make that happen, starting with steve harris.
If you had to pick 1 maiden song to describe maiden what would you pick? I'll chose To tame a land
https://youtu.be/1Aa2OqjP9tY Piece of mind was what brought them to stardom if you ask me. "The trooper" is played at almost every nhl game on a regular basis.

No he isn't LH is just a self hater.

Tanev would require more than you guys would want to pay. non protected 1st would be the starting point IMO.

He's great defensively just some concerns on injuries moving forward so there would be risk for you there. Most on here over-value our trade bait but I do think Tanev is worth your first. He can slot right into your top 4 and can paired with either of your offensive-minded Dmen to help cover the defensive load that comes with playing such Dmen.

He sounds desirable and if the Rangers are fighting for a top seed they may expend that pick to solidify the defense. Another Center is a top priority too but that seems unlikely.
