At least they admitted they were rebuilding, we're retooling on the fly, which I think now is retooling on the crawl.

who did you like?
I recall ozzy was pretty good during that time, priest as well. Maiden had their hey day in the 80's as well.

- SMBDragon

lol...I was actually being serious in replying to ASL. Been a huge music guy since a child of the 70's but I think the run of 80's metal from around 1980-86 stands up against pretty much anything. As you mentioned Ozzy, he had a great run of 4-6 records...Priest was one of the best also from that time. Maiden may be the king of them all as their run of records from Killers to Seventh Son was truly magical. Megadeth strung together about 6 really good albums too. Metallica from Kill em all to And Justice for all was all stellar...then they just became radio garbage for the most part but their last few have been ok. Queensryche is another band that was truly exceptional for the time. Warning all the way thru Empire all excellent records with Operation Mindcrime considered top 5 all time metal albums right there with Master of Puppets and Number of the Beast. That's just scratching the surface...gotta mention standard rock like Van Halen and Rush from that era as well. Lots to mention I could honestly go on all night.

Sure the metal genre became fluffy in the late 80's as everything eventually gets saturated just like 70's rock did. But the talent level in the afore mentioned bands in that time frame was truly remarkable and I was serious in saying it's one of the best decades in music ever. I don't think we will see that level of musicianship ever again. There are good metal bands today but not like the 80's...truly unique.

At least it ended quickly. Refs wanted this game to be over with. Think they applied the mercy rule and put the whistles away.

They started, or rather committed, to a rebuild eight seasons ago. Before that they were a perennial bubble team trying to get that eighth playoff spot and it got them nowhere. 2006 they finished 2nd in the Northwest and made a run to the finals, after that they tried again for a couple seasons and then said (frank) it after 2009 and went full rebuild.
- LeftCoaster

Yah.... you pretty much laid it out.

That being said, we're in way better shape now then they were in 2010... if we're comparing levels of failure.

So...what are the options? Are Markstrom and Nilsson trade-able? Can Nilsson be just sent away and we find another backup? Roll with Marky and just take our chances? I mean, Markstrom had a decent start when we were healthy but both of these goalies are just brutal...there has to be an option.

Nic Dowd?
Boucher proving that he is a career minor-leaguer?
Nillson should be in minors?
Edler is the best in league at shooting into shin-pads, and doing snow-angels?

I think the only option right now is to come up with some more concession menu items. Maybe 2 for 1 beer night.

They'd need to upgrade the washrooms first.... perhaps provide urine bottles with the 2 for 1 beer, that way we can all get in on some piss poor performances!

I forgot about SRV (RIP) so the music of the 80's didn't suck after all.

Just have patience and hope they draft well, rebuilding takes time. Who cares, really, if they suck right now, they NEED a few more strong drafts.

You are witnessing one of the greatest stealth tanks the world has ever seen. Don’t you even think about changing our dynamic duo. They are basically Canuck martyrs. Ali Akbar!

It makes for terrible entertainment when they let in a softy in first couple shots on goal. The whole team sags afterwards.
I can handle and expected lots of losses this season, but still like to be entertained, which this game was far from being.

Vanek and Boeser still look dangerous. But outside of Dowd looking solid and Chaput showing balls that Sutter wish he had, there wasn't much positive to come out of this game. Speaking of Sutter, that guy is officially the Tanev of forwards, except not as good.

Edler on the PP is WD-level of insanity, the guy is too stupid offensively to be the point man on the PP.

Gagner and LE are soft serve cream puffs and passengers on their lines. These guys are luxury pieces you add to a contending team. Not stabilizing vets or even stopgaps for rebuilding teams. 9M combined with multiple years still left....(frank) off. And no GM will be stupid enough to take these guys and I don't want any young guys watching and "learning" from these twinkies. Brutal signings. I'd rather overpay Gudbranson. It's actually infuriating watching these guys play when you know what their contracts look like and how much term is left as well.

You can't rip Nonis/Gillis for their contracts and then just write off these stupid ass signings for Benning. Hopefully Vantel decides to "Yann Sauve" them both #LTIR

You can send Nilsson down and bring Demko up at no difference to the cap. The question is do you want to bring Demko to this nightmare?
