If Borgen doesn't sign with the Sabres, i think it's time for them to stop drafting college kids beyond round 1. In the first round, at least they get compensatory picks, but when you factor in the chances of a 3rd/4th/5th rounder making it, and then combine those odds with the odds of them staying 4 years, benefiting from the organization's assets, and then walking away, it's too much.

Until the CBA is changed, stay away from college kids

If someone could arrange for a nuclear bomb test here in central Florida to warm this place up, that would be great. Just let me know when it is due to go off, don’t want to be outside when those winds hit!

lehner to the islanders

greiss (islanders eating 1 mil per), sang and a prospect coming back

just chatter instigated from islanders

- homiedclown

That is a real offer? I see Greiss has pretty bad stats this year, but I kind of like Josh Ho-Sang and it may depend on the other prospect coming back. I dont know that I want more picks for Lehner, prospects would be better. Not sure I do that with Greiss on a 3-year deal with bad stats.

We made fried chicken last night as well. Debating about having it for lunch, though massive time constraint going home and then coming back to work.
- thatsapickle

I must say that I am very surprised at the quality of fried chicken that Publix has...it absolutely is very good...blows away Chick Filet-A, Kentucky Fried Chicken and every other competitor ... love it.

He is not a starting goalie, and i don't think the sabres are in a position to take MORE bad contracts unless the return is really good. Ho Sang seems like a headache quite frankly.

Fine that he is not a starting goaltender, cant get one of those back for Lehner ++.

At $2 mil per season (for this year and 2 more years), we could bury in AHL (will still hit around $1.1 per year to do so, $900k relief), I think it is fine.

Ho-Sang does seem to be a headache, but very talented and at 21, should be a good time table for what this team is looking at right now. And the other prospect, could make this a real win for Lehner (and not paying him).

Lehner is a strong goalie, but at his upcoming asking price (speculation) we should want nothing to do with him.

Midnight snack. Leftover Fried chicken and homemade Mac salad.

No nuclear bombs. No scientific or religious debates.

Damn that’s good.

That makes sense, but i wouldn't trade Lehner for a bad contract and a questionable player in Ho Sang. Ho Sang also hasn't really improved year-over-year. I wouldn't want anything to do with Greiss, so if he were included in the deal, the price would have to go up.

Even if Lehner wants a raise, it doesn't make sense to me to take a far lesser goalie back just to clear a million or two in cap space.

I would do

Lehner

for

Ho Sang
2nd

And even then i wouldn't be thrilled. They're getting an RFA starting goalie and we're getting a ton of question marks

but then we would have to trade one of Ocho Cinco or Griess? becuase we would have Ullmark and two craptastic backups.

Griess is a stop gap for the year.

Johnson isn't signed next year, if I remember correctly.

Ullmark can stay with Rochester for the rest of the year and Griess can back up next year.

Greiss has two years left, so going into '19-'20 when we should be ready to be a playoff team, you have Ulmark and Greiss, and maybe Ho Sang who has 2 goals this year. Not great.

I posted slightly early.

By stop gap, I meant that Ullmark could stay in Rochester while Johnson backs him up.

Then Griess can be the back up here. Slightly overpaid, but it is what it is.

Ho-sang could use a change of scenery, or who knows what could happen.

Maybe try to flip it for Bellows.

I'm guessing Bellows will require a much higher return than that, especially after this World Junior tournament.

I'm not worried about that so much as the overall strength of that tandem. Even if Ullmark is good enough to carry 60 games, it could be a Miller/Lalime situation where the back up is so bad that you literally can't win a game. I wouldn't take that chance when there will be better 1 year options on the open market.

Sadly you're probably right. It would be great if they could just operate like the other 3 big sports and not lose seasons everytime there's a CBA

Maybe the fallout will hit Texas.

it was a balmy 19 this morning.

We do have a high of 46 today, though and should hit 60 by the weekend.
