Zaitsev is hurt; there's a hole there. If this was next year, we'd have called up Rosen or Dermott (if not up already) or Liljegren.

And 3rd pairing defensemen are not worth trading 2nd round picks for. Really, any picks, but if you're ready to overpay at the deadline for a run, you might cough up a 3rd.

Stay the course; Zaitsev will be back and all will be right in the world. Not a lot of teams can lose a top 4D and still look great on the backend.

Polak on his own in the lineup isn't the worst thing in the world: he eats PK minutes and he's the perfect fodder to throw in front of shots.

It's Polak and Marincin that's the problem right now; both those guys can't make a play out of their own end so lob grenades off the glass, which does nothing to relieve the pressure against a heavy/fast forechecking team.
