I think Victor Oloffson could be a wild card/ dark horse for us

He should come over this summer with Asplund

"He has 15 goals and 24 points in 27 games thus far. Last season Olofsson registered nine goals and 27 points in 51 games for Frolunda.

The 22-year-old has been a human highlight reel in the Swedish Elite league this season. It should be encouraging to Sabres fans to see Olofsson playing so well against men. We haven’t seen many late round picks come through for the Sabres, but we may have one in Olofsson."

He’s been progressing nicely
Still probably need a year or 2 in Rochester though

sweden up 3-1

davidsson with a goal
nylander with a goal and an assist

- homiedclown

Are they on the same line?
Nylander-Davidsson-Olofsson
could be a line next year in Rochester if Nylander doesn’t make the Sabres

Davidsson might still be in Sweden though

This is why I’m against “blowing it up”
We have shown that these players can produce the #1 PP in the league
They should be able to get back to top10
Housley absolutely MUST figure that out

If that alone happens...
how many of these 1 goal losses in OT/shootout don’t even make it there

Of course this team still needs upgrades
Botts has some work to do for sure

But we aren’t as horrible as it seems

1) fix the PP
2) scoring depth (start to bring up the talented youth)
3) top pair defenseman

The first 2 are no brainers that can fairly easily be done

Botts has gotta come through on #3 though

If we win the draft lotto,
and keep Kane (& ROR)...

I have ZERO doubt that we’re a playoff team NEXT season

- jdfitz77

I beg to differ.
They have
-3 holes in the top 6
-4 holes in bottom 6
-2 holes in top pairing
That is with keepin ROR and resigning Kane

If that don’t find a trade partner for Okposo and Pommer, they effectively have $11.5M tied up on 2 3rd line wingers which will prove problematic in resolving in the top 6.

Blow it up Botts.

Props to girgs for capitalizing on his promotion.

The Eichel effect is real.

Hopefully it ups Girgs trade value, because he's not the long term answer on that wing and he doesn't seem to be able to create his own opportunities on the lower lines

- jcragcrumple

He won’t be playing with Eichel on the 3rd/4th line...

But we should have some decent talent coming he can play with & feed off of
Baptiste, Smith, Bailey, E Rod, etc

I think Girgs is moved up there dependent on what the other team puts up against Jack.

Out of the 20 current rostered sabres
10 will not be here. Maybe even more. Probably 4 or 5 at this deadline will be moved or sooner.

This is still gmtm's and reigers left overs

Kane-Eichel-Reinhart
Nylander-ROR-Okposo
Bailey-Mittelstadt-Pominville
Girgensons-Rodrigues-Baptiste
Smith-Larsson-Nolan/Wilson

Our forwards are “fine”
Not great,
but if the PP gets back on track...
and we have a healthy defense that can help move the freaking puck up the ice...

Obviously I’m counting on getting Dahlin,
Guhle coming in & helping, Antipin & McCabe continuing to grow, Beaulieu being decent...

I agree with your assessment if we are talking Cup Contenders...
but not for playoffs

More like our forward is fine. Eichel.

Middlestat and erod are probables

The rest could be moved , cut or never make the nhl

If any of the following guys produced at the right moment last night (Kane X 2, Nolan, Eichel, Reinhart, Lehner) we would be talking about a well deserved win vs another loss. While the team is definitely playing better and is competitive, it really sucks that they continue to lose. The only silver lining is that it's only a 2-team race to finish last (again). My money's on the Sabres but we'll end up picking 3rd. Such is our luck.

Getting Dahlin puts us in the playoffs imo

I’ve been saying for weeks now that Girgs looked pretty good to start the year when he was playing with ROR & then Jack

Doesn’t surprise me that he’s been decent there again

Maybe we are showcasing him for a trade?
Or maybe he’s just a decent short term option until Nylander, or whoever is “ready”

Either way...
he’s been playing pretty decent
Nice job Girgs

Underlines are significant question marks, we hope they will be able to play on those lines
Bold are playing well below their line assignments, and struggling in an uptempo north/south system.
I’m sorry, but I’m not buying it.

Lastly, Blowboy has played slightly better most recently but generally he sucks and at $3M...sell, sell fast.

Agree. Too many are quik to want to trade an asset thinking they can get better. It's not that easy. for the 100th time . Like some say trade Kane (for a top D man) and we will be better . Who is replacing his goals ? Same thing happened when we traded Roy . never replaced his points for the season.

I will say Mittlestadt has piqued my interest. Another soft opponent tonight, let’s see him feed on them as well.

Hockey players are like stocks - you don't sell them when they are low. For example, I wouldn't trade Sam right now. At the very least, let him play with Jack and score a bunch of points - like Girgenson's is. Well, maybe that's a bad example...

As a reminder, everyone was willing to trade Kane for a bag of pucks after the Draft Weekend incident in Buffalo. Kane has kept his nose clean and played well on the ice. Now half this board wants to extend him. At the very least, he should now be able to get us a 1st rounder and a decent prospect.

Also, to "blow it up" means you need to have another dance partner who is willing to take our trash. What other GM wants Bogo's, Okposo's or Pommer's contract? Botts whole reputation is about being a cap genius. If there was any semblance of an offer out there for any of these contracts, I am sure he would jump at them.

That's fair.
It just seams like every forward is mentioned in some sort of trade.

Cost dump
Ror
Okposo

Trade at deadline
Kane
Gus
Larson
Pouliot
Reinhart

Just here to fill out the roster
Joshenson
Nolan
Wilson

Not sure any of this will happen but , I have to think jbotts wants to mold the team his way.
His guys, probably gonna be some changes
