But in all honesty, that crest doesn’t represent a whole he’ll of a lot, largely for the reasons you state...you can count on two hands (more or less, certainly less than 3 hands) the number of seasons worth a damn since their inception in 1970.
From the top of my head
5 or 6 in ‘70’s
3 or 4 in ‘80’s
2sh in late ‘90’s
‘05-‘06 and ‘06-‘07

Lehner has been playing well the last 8-10 games. Early on, perfect tank goalie. Chad is terrible.

I'm suprised, you really do not see the sabres trying to get a top pick? This smells of a dirty low down tank. We should be experts by now at spotting them. It's been lingering for the full season.

Hate to say it but I think the blame for our lackluster performance falls upon the shoulders of Reinhart, Okposo, RoR and Risto...four players I have always been positive about.

All the usual whipping boys, Bogo, Lehner, McCabe, Kane...are playing decent enough hockey. It's the "good" players who are just poopting the bed.

I'll get my poopting pants on as Chill would say.

He is overrated. Risto has way more value, as does mccabe. Risto is on pace for his regular 1/2 point a game career average. Slightly under, could be the new idiot in charge of the inherited #1 power play.

There are a 1/2 dozen decent players on the 2017-18 sabres roster (which is built to purposely lose) Scandella might be flipped at the deadline

Botts did say when he arrived that it would take him most of the season to fully evaluate the team.
I don’,t think he anticipated this level of incompetence, nor did he expect the injury bug to the D to be assignificant.
So I didn’t expect many trades until closer to the deadline myself.

I gotta believe by now he has a pretty solid picture in his mind of what this team is.
Many overpaid players for their current level of production.
He has to dump salary on several in order to right this ship...Okposo, Pommer, Bogo would huge steps, I’d take 2 of those 3.
Then capitalize on Kane trade.
Get rid of Reinharts lazy ass.
