serious question

is this team better off for the next 5 years having kane at 7 to 7.5 mil per or ror at 7.5 per for the next 5 years

- homiedclown

if you expect jordan nolan to be a difference maker and win games, your crazy

risto, ror, scandella, eichel, kane, pommer, reinhart, okposo, lehner

that is your core

when teams are good their core is good

when teams are bad, look at the top half of the roster

if this team was 9th in the east, you can say a tweak here or there may be the difference between 9th and 8th at the end of the year

when you are dead last, you have big problems

Must answer this first:

Does Kane's play slow once he gets his long term deal in the same way it seems RoR's game has slowed?

a difference between 30th and 31st place maybe

this team should be contending for the last playoff spot now, not the last spot in the league

- homiedclown

The team is not good
The coaching is not good
The power play is not good

The group of tank players is:
Tennyson
Beuleuvue
Gorges
Moulson
Nelson
Girgs
Larson
Griffen
Colio- what's his name
Nolan
Reinhart
Chad

These guys are not a group of contending players.

The Blame game is brutal:
Ror now, eichel last week.

Any chance ror plays better when the games mean something? Team canada for example

I think mccabe and scandella are playing mush better than risto this season
- homiedclown

But if they averaged the same TOI do you think that would be the case?

There's no simple move, this group is not a team.

There isn't a single player to point to, this group has failed with the current system setup. GMJB is staying true to his plan, it's difficult short term because we have gone through this before.

ROR is a good player, if Moulson brought attention to change imagine what this move would do. Keeping him doesn't hurt us, but if the option to move him looks formidable I'll say pull the trigger

I doubt they move him. Invest in sports therapists.

Definitely tough, but to me it's ROR because this season had been an aberration for Kane in terms of staying healthy and production.

It's hands down the best, most healthy season he's ever had. Do you want to trust that will continue, or will he revert back to who he typically was before this contract year?

Also, who the (frank) is the captain on this team?

He's the biggest disappointment on this team this year, he's lost.
- SABRES 89

Bigger disappointment than silent sam and his 5 goals/ 11 points?

Bigger than the pp going from 1st to 31st?

The question is whether his health and production are sustainable.

Kane at this level is probably worth more than O'Reilly, but over the long haul, you're getting consistent play from 1, and spurts of greatness and good health from the other.

5 years makes it easier to take Kane as well, instead of the 7 he may want

Homie- would you feel better if the sabres invited dahlin and Zadina to play games in buffalo, to showcase them like the mceichel year?

This is a tank. Just a quiet tank. There is franchise changing talent in the draft.

Wouldn't a team that was trying to get better, trade some future picks for a good player or 2?

I hear ya, but McJesus has gotten them back in playoff contention...they're a long way off but 6-4 in their last 10 and almost back to .500.

I just think the great players can pull a bad team up from the bottom, Jack hasn't done that yet and I still believe him to be a great player.

- RhinoFan

I see what you're saying about McDavid, but Eichel in the last ten games has been doing similar things but with different results. There still is a lot of complaining about how bad the Sabres are without any credit given for their play actually improving.

Last ten games: 3 W, 3 L, 4 OTL. With the exception of the Canes game all the losses we're one goal games (I know Boston was 3-0, but there were two empty netters.) So we got 10 out of 20 possible points. I know it is not technically .500 hockey, but the points do equal it. If not for a few blown opportunities, we could have been 7-3 in those games. We need more guys to capitalize on their chances, and apparently need more practice playing 3 on 3. I don't think anyone can seriously say they have not seen a better team on the ice the last ten games than they have been watching since the start of the season.

Add to that their record in 1 goal games. They lose a ton of 1 goal games. That tells me that the lack of depth contribution in terms of goals is a huge factor. 1 goal from a goalless or 2 goal guy here or there, and they look much better

I don't know the stats but how many losses are one goal losses? Or two with EN's coming against. I don't think we are as far away as a people think.

This is mainly because they are 100% healthy for the most part.

Which for any NHL team, doesn't last long, and we still aren't good enough to win or even be at .500

We are playing better, but I mean, in all seriousness, the first 25-30 games rivaled the tank years
