The exact impact is hard to measure, but I just believe it improves their odds of winning on a nightly basis with Read in the lineup over Weise or Lehtera. It probably won't be the difference between a W and L on a given night, but over time the slight improvement will make a difference.

I don't think most of us advocating for Read expect him to come in and be the 20 goal scorer he once was. He has shown, even after his scoring drop-off, that the team consistently outscores the opposition while he's on the ice at 5v5. And the the team continually pushes play in the right direction with him on the ice. He also could help our weak PK. Nolan Patrick is really struggling from a possession standpoint at the moment (gotten better the past few games). Weise has not been a good possession player throughout his career, and I think replacing him with Read will go a long way for Patrick. And as Feanor pointed out, Read still scores at a decent clip for a bottom sixer.

Yeah so would giving Patrick Raffl and Voracek for wingers.

I am not sure Read is the guy i pair with Patrick. If we are going to get him a consistent winger then i would just bring up Lindblom.

One thing I love about Sean Couturier's game is his ability to track the puck in the crease. Whether it's a rebound from his own shot or a teammate, he's putting it away.

Fun game against Detroit. Detroit is a bad team though. We can't allow the score to stay close again teams like this.

I would place Konecny with Patrick. They haven't great together lately but they were very good together prior to Patrick's injury.

I'm just gonna sit back, pour myself another cup of coffee (yes coffee, I'm at work, lol) and see how many pages you goofballs can fill arguing Matt Read vs Jori Lehtera.

If that runs out of steam, I'll send you some other just as scintillating topics to discuss.

Penny for every day we argue over the 4th line.............

in all seriousness tho, I think the 4th line I liked the best was Leier-Laughton-Raffl but I understand that Raffl needs better players to produce more. I haven't minded Leier-Laughton-Konecny at all outside of the low minutes they get. really anyone not on the top 2 lines have recently gotten low mins. they ride the top 2 lines heavily.

I don't dislike Filppula but I won't be sad to see them move on from him. I'm really hoping by next season Patrick is ready for the 2nd line role.

I would be ok with that.

Right now I am ok with Konecny where he is. i think they just wanted him to simply his game and get pucks to the net and crash around.

The main thing I see right now is they need a lot more from Weal. He has been a huge disappointment.

Interesting that you didn't even have to act like an ass in your response.

Thought that was a rule around here.

Maybe we can dream of a day where an organization with the financial support the Flyers have -can avoid rolling out absolute turds/zombies even if they are on the fourth line.

Raise the standards.

I don't think that.

I believe the reason Read is in the minors over Weise and/or Lehtera is due to Read's contract expiring at the end of this season. Lehtera's expires the end of 18-19 and Weise's the end of 19-20.

I don't think its too crazy to think that Hexy has already decided Read will not be returning next year, so its better to have Weise and Lehtera around due to them most likely being with the team/organization again next year.

- JFlyers00

I don't think that has anything to do with that either. If they felt Read was the better option right now, he'd be up. Wouldn't Read playing well in a 4th line role in the NHL possibly increase his trade value for whatever they could get?

Says the man with a bloated opinions, which he righteously believes to be facts, on each and every topic on this thread.

The clear difference is if you or others want to discuss the merits of trading Wayne Simmonds round and round, knock yourself out. Have at it! I'll just use the scroll feature to surf on by if I don't want to participate in that conversation. You on the other hand felt the need to scold those who wanted to discuss the 4th line options because you didn't care for the topic.

FFS, it's called a sense of humor. But don't worry, I hear they are working on this for AI's too, so just hang in there little buddy.

They're getting there. Right now, if everyone's healthy, Weise is the only guy who fits that description and hopefully he'll be replaced by Lindblom before the end of the season.

They still have to work under the cap, so they are only going to allocate so much for 4th line forwards, however they will hopefully begin to fill some more forward slots with guys on ELCs over the next couple of years which should give them even more cap flexibility.

More like objection to the conversation masked behind veiled sense of humor. You failed to detect the sense of humor in my reply, and instead chose to take it in another direction.

Same for S2S post about finding a new hobby to get through work. That was funny also, yet you responded how?

Might miss something to argue about if he shuts down I guess.
