I can't see the Islanders letting him go.
- SABRES 89

It seams like the should be allowed to franchise tag him. Like the 49ers and jimmi g.

He can go whenever he chooses on July 1st

I always get my hopes up, but I don't see buffalo as his landing spot

Or one could look at it as the fact he is high scoring and hasn’t had hat tricks galore means he isn’t getting a ton of Garbage goals, and likely isn’t streaky...potting goals 4, 5, 6 in a 6-1 victory ... rather a consistent scorer who contributes meaningful goals.
There is another side of the coin.

- IonSabres

I would argue that it has more to do with his tendancy to take a ton of shots per goal. He's a volume shooter, which isn't a bad thing, but he's not the prototypical skilled sniper that will capitalize on chances. He needs a lot of chances to score.

nope, that ship sailed

JR was on with the Instagators. Could cost 13 mil per for Tots. Rivet mentioned player to watch is Anders Lee. Gonna be a UFA in 2019 and tough for the Isles to keep if he keeps scoring 30 goals a year. Already has 21 this year.

I'd target Lee

Everything u say makes sense...
except for the hat trick thing

U could actually say that you’d rather have a guy who scores consistently instead of in bunches

- jdfitz77

See Stafford, Drew.

Right...
and instead of “shopping atound”
most big name players agree to contract extensions...
even on bad teams

I wouldn't. I'm growing tired of getting "scorers" from the Islanders. Tavares is the obvious exception, but that's not going to happen.

JT would be terrific. Would need to let go of Kane and get rid of ROR ... maybe he could get Okposo earning his money...that would be well worth it.
- IonSabres

We could fit all four of them if we get rid of Bogo & Moulson

Moving forward, who is part of our core in 2 years? My bets:

Eichel
Risto
Mitts
Guhle
Ulmark

That's all I see. Everyone is gone or they are looking at trading.

Am I missing anyone?

I guess...
but what do we have to give up to get Hoffman in the first place?

Unless they’re “selling low” for some reason...
idk that it makes sense to spend assets for a guy we plan on trading in 2 years

I do like Hoffman
I just don’t think his contract situation & age is the best fit for us

IMO, we should worry about shipping out players and worry about adding talent later after the team has moved out the crap.
