Yes it is, no Okposo contract and we aren't even having this conversation, Kane gets signed.
- SABRES 89

yeah, I can see that...I wonder what he'd be like if he didn't go through the concussion an especially the post-concussion troubles he suffered

I'd trade him for a young but established defenseman

Most guys actually don’t shop around
Not to say he wouldn’t entertain the idea of playing on a better team...
Of course that’s possible
But there are other factors to consider

I’m not saying what matters to Kane,
Bc infrankly have no idea

O’Reilly signed here, Okposo too...
Jack didn’t have to sign for 8yrs
He could’ve only signed till he’d be able to be a UFA

- jdfitz77

Most guys do not shop around? I disagree

Any free agent that has ever switched teams has shopped around.

Recently moulson, gorges, gianta, ror and okposo chose hear

$ talks

Always liked him. He was signed here to play hockey . Not for his social status .
- cabin

Correct but he is also a " face " on this team and has to hold himself in a higher regard. After the game when they lost here against the Knights, Kane walked out of the locker with my son and I and even though he was pissed off we lost, still took a couple minutes to talk with us.

I don't blame him, but for his prolific scoring this year, GMs can't forget that he's never scored a hat trick. Not saying that's the end all, be all, but goalscoring is his primary attribute and there are warning signs
- jcragcrumple

he has a lot of other attributes like skating and toughness...odds are he's a 25-30 goal scorer...how much is that worth and for how long?

I'm sorry but as Tavares goes, so does Okposo and Moulson. Enough said.

Good, I can see the draft being more likely. Not sure anyone would take him specifically for a playoff run...for what really? Unless they feel they can get him fixed an$ The finds his 45pt production again.
- IonSabres

I agree, what would he bring for a playoff run?

Speed
Scoring
Effort
Heart
Physical play
Leadership

Only a super reasonable contact

Yeah, I agree, and I love his toughness. I'm willing to bet this ends up being the best season of his career, though, especially because the Eichel effect has been real for him. He could very well regress to 28g 22a, or his injuries could keep piling up.

Anything above 6 mil would be a bad idea imo, but he's gonna get 7x7 I bet

yeah...Tavares is a bad man, underrated, imo...but, he was on pace for some 24 goals and 30-odd assists, which isn't that far off his numbers from previous years

I like Kane. He isn’t the smartest hockey player, but I’d take him on my team for the playoffs to be sure. He can score as he does go into the dirty areas.

I go back and forth, but generally come down to the reality in my mind that they are in the middle of a rebuild for 2 years, and when we need him 3 years from now he’ll be 29 and 12 years in...not ancient, but he plays physical so it takes a toll. Therefore I think the smart move, but comes with pain is to trade him for future value.

i'm more worried about the term...3-4 years would be ideal, and if that were the case, $7m wouldn't be egregious

I've heard a ton of bs. Not sure if it's fair to share rumors. Especially tonight, everyone's being courtious to each other.

Can you get a replacement for his scoring in a trade ? We lack scoring as our biggest need . Seems everyone want our stats to drop to we get shutouts every game . we can't win 0-0 games

Pretty spot on. I would worry a little about staying out of trouble for the 3 years before we are getting close to the playoffs.

His style of play has to take a toll on his body. Probably age him quicker

I do like Hoffman...he would be a suitable replacement and is more reasonable contract wise than what Kane will be. It will cost some though

Yeah, good point. The shoulder he uses to throw his checks is the same he needs to score goals. He's been healthy this season, but man, I worry about a 30+ year old Kane

possible Hoffman turns into a ROR atm ? Had 1 year and then it went south. Kane has at least 3 years going for him before I start worrying.
