Compher broke his thumb blocking a shot Oct. 19 against St. Louis and was out for six games. He had to wear a thumb brace that affected his play when he returned, but that's no longer an issue.

"Now that's behind him," Bednar said. "Now he seems to be getting more chances. He's earned himself a spot on our power play and we've moved him around a little bit to the flank and now to the middle. He's a right-handed shot, which we don't have many of, so he gives us an element there where he can help us score some goals and open things up for some of the other guys."

The fact that Compher has been taking more shots in recent games -- 20 in the past six games -- is evidence that his thumb has healed.

Compher is going to end up being almost exactly what O'Reilly is, a 2nd line center. Yet will be half as cheap, and wouldn't have cost 4 assets.

Tim Murray was a moron.

That is all well and fine. Good on him for performing.
However, you seem to leave out one very key piece in your final analysis.
In your analysis, did you give any consideration to the fact he wasn’t going to sign here. If not, would that fact change your summary as key evidence that GMTM was a moron in this situation. If so, please explain to us how you then arrived at the conclusion you did specific to this Comphere situation.

Comphere would never have played here and therefore you simply cannot imply that the Sabres could have had the same without the trade....it simp,y doesn’t compute.[/img]

Of course.

Whenever the greatest defensive center to walk this earth has his annual 15-20 game goal draught, we here about how he's ailing from a summer tourney or getting over some injury that's bothering him.

Don't put words in my mouth Broads. I'm not making those accusations about ROR. I want him to be the player he was the first year here. Looks like the dude needs to go on a diet. Compher hurt. I can't argue that. Did the pick we got for McGinn turn into Asplund in a round about way?

When did Compher ever say he wasn't signing here?

Do you mean Brendan Lemiuex?

Not saying you did, I am being sarcastic.

No it turned into Vesey, which turned into literally nothing. Which is fine. You should take risks. But some of those risks need to pan out. His didn't

I've read some crazy poop on this site before but this defending GMTM is pretty much the worst.

I will say that when GMTM was making these trades bringing in Kane and ROR specifically, I was disappointed in losing the prospects we drafted with all the currency acquired during the Tank years.

I really wanted to see thes players together and see what they could do.
A key part of that was the expectations associated with Silent Sam during his draft year...then topped off with Eichel, but also Comphere and Lemuiex. I thought those 4 with Zads, Grigerenko, Girgensons and Risto would form a fun Core to watch for years.

Unfortunately, it never came to being a number of ways. Maybe that is wh6 I’m so disillusioned with the team as it stands.

Well, back to the Bourbon.

I’m watching the replay of last night’s game, and it reminds me of how much I hate the Sabres blue jersey, specially the dark blue. Looks like complete poop on TV, always has always will.

What do you think the chances are the team moves to the style and color scheme of the uni’s for the winter classic game?
I am hoping so as I do really like the looks of them, and gets them back closer to their roots.

So after a rough start to the season, Lehner is playing pretty well, at least at home anyway, by putting up numbers like he did last year in a Goalie-friendly system.
1.94 GA and .935 S%.
Those are very appealing numbers to be sure.

Not so appealing are his road stats, as they drag his overall performance is 2.76 GA and .914 S%.

So with him apparently securing interest from other GMs, if your Botts do you have Housley play him:
A) more at home to maximize his numbers for trade value...or
B) hope he has figured it out and play him both on the road and at home as your number 1 and let the chips fall where they may?

- IonSabres

You keep Lehner and trade Johnson.

Sometimes the best deals are the small ones or none at all, to which the latter doesn’t apply in the 716.

Guess it all depends on what they want to do with him and what his demands will be in terms of resigning. His current contract is as much as I would want to go with him, coupled with the fact Ullmark will graduate next year.

Personally I think he is a goner, so maximize that value.

Best band no one knows about.
I have seen them 4 times, looking forward to the next time I can treat myself...living in Florida now, I hope it is more frequent.
