I said before the home-stand 8 of 10 points would be needed to keep on track. In that I felt like the Flyers would lose to one of Stars or Kings. I would love to see a win tonight but would be OK with at least a point.

Curious about Lyon being the one called up to backup. Wouldn't it have been better for him to be playing for the phantoms being Ellliott was going to play every game?

Gonna be a tough one tonight. They will need to do at least most of the following if they want to come away with 2 points.

Remain disciplined and stay out of the box

Get a strong game from Elliott

Keep their feet moving and the gaps between O & D short

Get traffic in front of Quick

Win the possession battle

Hold their own in puck battles against the bigger Kings

GO FLYERS!!

- BiggE

I worry that they'll get pushed off the puck all over the ice tonight like they did the last time they played Anaheim. They've been finding a way recently though.

Unless Elliott gets hurt. Lyon was playing below his own standards, so I wasn't opposed to him changing things up a bit. Could be a good experience for him.

I’d say let Lindblom ride the bus the rest of the year.

Gotta get used to this schedule

Let’s go Flyers!

Also, FYI to anyone who has Netflix...

Ice Guardians is available to watch on Netflix; I started watching it last night. It’s good! even the Broad St Bullies have a part in it. For those not familiar, Ice Guardians is a documentary about the history, development and impact of the Enforcer role over the years. Lots of great interviews with former players.

I watched this a few weeks ago. I always enjoy these kinds of documentaries. I'm not sure if it's the same exact one, but I'm pretty sure there was a documentary on HBO a few years ago that was very similar to this one. It could have been this though.

Another game against a good team, another goose egg for Schenn, interesting.

I said it a few games ago he's getting the Stolie treatment. Come on up and hang out with the boys to see what life on an NHL roster is like but don't even think you are seeing the net.

I do think if Stolie was healthy he'd have got the call and saw a game at least.

Flyers are currently 9th in the East in points %

I think it is worth noting that the entire metro is ahead of 5 teams in the Atlantic

- YuenglingJagr

That's why I hate the current playoff system. I'd rather see the 2 division winners get the 1 & 2 seeds and the next 6 highest finishers in the conference be seeded 3-8. This would guarantee that the top 8 in each conference always get in and would avoid the chance of having 2 of the top 4 teams meeting in the first round.

Edit: lol leight again

The talk about the Flyers wanting to trade Neuvirth seem like a beat up to me. Since they extended him, he has not done anything surprising.

I think it's more other teams wanting a back up and he is on a cheap deal. He would be one of the easier targets.

Cheap yes but why would someone else want someone who can't stay healthy. Sounds like a recipe for trouble later.

Except he isn't really on a cheap deal for a backup

Although not playing at all could be a bummer.
The time in practice and traveling with the big club, should be a positive.
I think it will be a great experience and motivator for the kid that the next time up he makes a statement in practices etc that brass will say, "shoot lets give this kid a game he looks really ready this time around."

Gm's can be dumb.

In the cap world I think the cheap price for a guy who can play well when healthy and probably not cost a ton in a trade is teams look for.

I don't know.

Would you pay a 4th rounder for Neuvrith and his cheap cap or pay a 2 rounder for Lehner and his 4 million cap hit to be back up?

I mean I don't know whats the right answer.

Yes, he's paid like a 1B. If he plays around 25 games at .915 then that's what the Flyers paid him to do.

Not sure where you are going with this as there is still roughly 60% of the season to be played. I just don't want to see 2 of St Louis, Nashville and Winnipeg meeting in the first round if they all finish with top 4 records in the conference. Potentially having the teams with the 2nd and 3rd best records in the conference meeting in the first round seems like a pretty poor business decision.
