Sorry man. This comes from someone who is and was a huge Brassard fan. But to me, that moves makes little sense, unless Ottawa eats salary next year. If so, then maybe.

When re-acquiring Brassard was mentioned on the blog a few weeks ago, I pointed out that he is making $5 mil this year and next. Please explain to me how you are re-signing Hayes, Miller, Skjei and Vesey even with Nash's salary gone? Plus, if I had a choice, give me a re-signed Grabner over Brassard. With Zib and Hayes, I prefer giving Chytil a shot at the third line center or acquiring someone else in free agency, unless Ottawa eats salary.

Are we giving Skjei 7x7? Vesey hasn't done much to get a big raise and Hayes' should be around 3.5. Miller will be the tricky one I think.

To me that either means your trading Hayes in a year or one of Chytil or Andersson. The reason I like Brass is bc in a year and a half he's gone, doesn't block the young guys coming up but doesn't rush them either.
