Haha I just edited my post to include the assets acquired in the potential Kane trade.

However I think Hoffman will cost more

Edit: However if you think Hoffman can be had for a late first and that's all it cost then by all means turn Kane into Hoffman a prospect and a 2nd

I think Hoffman might cost more, but they would trade him so they could keep Stone and Karlsson long term (or try to)

Like 365 has said, Stone is the better option, but that’s gonna he a haul.

I just think Ottawa is going to allow teams to get in a bidder war for Hoffman

I mean he is on his way to his 4th straight 20 goal season and third straight season with at least 55 points, plus his contract is good.

If Ottawa does their rebuild (retool more like it) the right way by getting good to great pieces for Hoffman which I think they will, they're setting themselves up for the present with cap space and the future.

It's been a slow month, I'm running out of steam with the Pysyk train. GMJB just won't listen to reason.

Starting to scout the waters for a new defensive anchor...I really like what I hear from this Tim Murray scout, really good eye for defenseman.

Hoffman is cheaper than Kane will be, and has been more consistent.

I’d rather save the 2+ mil to get an equal player

- sbroads24

Sure...
But we have to give up assets to get Hoffman
And it’s not like he’d be cheap to re-sign
I’m guessing he’d get at least Kane $$$
If not more,
just bc of 2 yrs of inflation

What I’m saying the assets acquired in the Kane trade = assets given up to Hoffman.

If we get a 1st, prospect, 2nd for Kane then I’d trade the 1st for Hoffman.

If that doesn’t get it done, I’d move on
