For all the talk about the age gap, how many of the age gap guys that Benning acquired would actually be core players on playoff teams?

Sven? Is he a legit top 6 player on a playoff team? Granlund isn't even a top 6 player on a bottom feeder right now. Gudbranson might not even be a Canuck next year. Sutter isn't a top 6 player.

And by trading assets to cover the "age gap", he was talking away depth from the next "age gap".

It's these things that are annoying. Hopefully he's learning his lessons and looking back at his moves to adapt and adjust.

Maybe so, but it is a business and you need to ice a team until the next wave. Without these place holders the roster looks a lot like the end of the year last year with Boucher, Megna, Chaput, Zelewski and Drew Shore.

It may already be happening where BB the rookie is now being counted on to spark Gagner. JV now looked on to making Burmi & Goldy click. Both got significant time with Sedins. Well that's development for you.

JV and Pouliot are the only faster additions right now to roster. But the team's style of game is different because of TG's system. Its the opposite of WD's and why their pace looks faster.

Before the injuries they were puck moving fast, now there hesitant and passes are off its the mental part of the game there struggling with, talent level is mediocure lets face it but when healthy and playing with confidence there not that bad.

This "age gap" thing was the stupidest thing ive ever heard.. You want vets then sign a few average guys as UFAs or pick some up off the waiver wire. Dont be trading away picks for waiver players and scraps.

It's a wash though because it's just part of a contract that had Sedins winning scoring titles and leading to a presidents trophy. That kind of value isn't often achieved in $7m contracts. They performed at the top of the peer group in this contract.

They have more NHL talent than the Canucks do, which is sad. Truthfully they assembled a bunch of players that can skate really well in today's game and they're having success with it. Outside of Fleury and Neal they don't really have too many household names.
