I watch every single Sabres game, yes you read that right ( I believe in cruel and humane punishment) Let me say this. Kane did himself zero favors his first full season in Buffalo, got in a little trouble. have not heard a peep out of him in almost 2 years now. As far as locker room stuff. could not tell you if that is true or not.. What I can tell you is every SINGLE time he pulls the sweater over his head he gives it 100% on the ice. That is extremely difficult to do playing for a basement dwelling team. Very easy to mail it in...yet night after night he is the only one that sticks out...He is entering the prime of his career and is on pace to shatter his career high in goals and points. On pace for 35-40 goals & 30-35 assists... Playing a power forwards game...he can score, play special teams, fight (and win) skate like the wind and will get dirty if he has too. To me the rewards outweigh the risk...

Hockeyscap.com has Pens at DEADLINE CAP SPACE $3,192,220 (The deadline cap space is the total sum of cap hit values that the current daily cap hit can be increased by to remain compliant below the cap ceiling at seasons end). So I'm not sure if Kane's prorated salary to the end of the season would fit. It might. But I'm not sure.

I'm not saying that Kane isn't a VERY talented player. I just think you have to consider what he ends up doing to your team chemistry, which I would think is really quite good in Pittsburgh as it stands right now.
