BTW, my brother asked me about the trivia quiz but didn't get a definitive answer, which 2 players besides Gaborik played in 1000 games & scored 40 goals + twice as Rangers? I had Mike Gartner & Jagr. Answer?

Mike Gartner and John Ratelle were the two besides Gaborik who scored 40+ goals in at least 2 seasons as Rangers players, who also played in at least 1,000 NHL games for their career including elsewhere, Brian.

Gartner did so here in three straight seasons:
(1990/91 - 49 Goals), (1991/92 - 40 G), (1992/93 - 45 G)
Ratelle did so in two consecutive ones as the center of the "GAG" line:
(1971/72 Cup Finals season - 46 Goals), (1972/73 - 41 G)

If McDonagh's defensive game were that of his best seasons, & not possibly being affected by any setback he sustained, including that foot injury of a few postseasons ago that shut him down for good, no one would care that "583 players have scored more goals than he has this season".
I wouldn't also care if any goalie had scored a late game empty netter while the opposition's goalie was pulled, to be ahead of McD in goals at this point, had he been the stud defensively we have known since that great theft made by Sather, combined with Bob Gainey drinking one too many the prior night.

I can't understand Hayes not shooting more . He has a laser wrist shot but for some reason passes up scoring chances all the time . You got to think AV and staff had to show him tapes of his shot . Some of it goes back to coaching in his youth . So many coaches in youth hockey want kids ( for good reason ) to be good teammates and pass the puck around . Need more coaches tell kids to shoot the puck .
Again great win last night , the Rangers needed that bad .

You only love Kreider so much because you want him to tutor you so that you can speak one or more of the various foreign languages he does well. Despite the Kings later tying the game at 2-2 in the 3rd, the turning point of the game came with the score tied at 1-1 in the 2nd. It was with Hank making those 3 saves within about a 2 seconds sequence, with his right pad save off the first rebound shot from 20 feet straight out, following the initial shot he stopped from his left side circle, being the best of the three. Then immediately off that ensuing face off in Hank's right side circle, came the McDonagh pass to Hayes, which Hayes may have even surprised Quick in not passing the puck across to Grabner, but rather wrist shooting the puck past Quick for a 2-1 Rangers lead. That, instead of the contrary in the Kings favor, had Hank not made those 3 saves in succession just seconds earlier.
However, a negative in this crucial win was with them still allowing too many quality chances in being on the wrong side of the shots both on goal and attempted. The latter must be more lowered significantly to prevent Hank from being worn down by March at this point, should they not need to become sellers.
