Last night was the Gudas we've been looking for all season. He played a real strong game and hopefully he can get in a groove moving forward.

good thing they played Buffalo....man they suck....a lot of dumb plays, but sometimes you get enough breaks to over come an off night. Obviously one gut that didn't have a bad night was Provorov. Some younger guys won't remember Mark Howe, but that was the type of game he brought every night. That's about as high a praise that I can heap on a player.
Hey they all can't be Rembrandts.

Amac's turnovers recently have been covered by Elliot with timed saves. But my lord has he been a turnover machine in his own end with many of them unforced.
- Buzzo

I kind of noticed that too...but he's not the only culprit. One thing I do think has returned to his game is shot blocking....I don't know if the stats bare it out but he appears to be getting in front of pucks more frequently, which is one of his strongest attributes.

Sitting back like a Boucher team it’s going to look ugly and boring much of the time. Get used to it

Wasn't this about when G and Ghost started to look a little better last season.

The Flyers current style of play is not remotely the same as TB played under Boucher.

Yeah, but when you lack overall depth, it's the best way to win games.

With Giroux, no. He got off to a quick start, actually, but then the short summer off the injury rehab caught up with him.

I don't think Ghost and G started looking like themselves until late Jan/early Feb last year, but they also were playing more and harder minutes than Patrick so that may have been a factor. Either way, if he can build on the way he played last night the Flyers should be able to roll out a much more effective 3rd line.

If you are using common core, it does. 1-2-2 equals 5 just like 1-4 equals five.

I'm trying to remember when the trade G posts ended last year. I know There was a period in November/December where a majority of the post game discussion was how bad G had regressed. Then he turned it around again and looked better. Ghost I definitely think it was right around Christmas his game started to return.

I know this team is NOT a 5 win in a row type team. But neither are they a 10 loss in a row team.

Even during the losing streak they were in every game, winning at some point in many of them.

Playoff bubble team, 8th, 9th seed. It is what it is.

Nice to see Patrick assert himself a little more last night. He seems to be getting his legs under him, skating better. By all accounts he is a plus skater, but dual hip surgeries tend to affect skating I would imagine.

Its also great to see Giroux back to the guy who imposes himself on the game.

Voracek.....this guy...... At one point I think he turned the puck over 4 times in like 5 minutes, and three of them were of that blind, trying to be too cute variety. But then he makes a great play on the Flip goal.

It wasn't just Elliot in the first period, the entire team was a tire fire on dump ins behind the net. Glad they got that cleaned up.

As long as Voracek keeps this type of production up (I think he's been involved in something like 41% of all Flyers goals this season), I'll live with his mediocre defensive play.

Hakstol's tinkering with the lines is almost complete. Top two lines are set and looking awesome. Now he's just gotta move Weise down and Weal up and we'll have:

Giroux - Couturier - Simmonds
Raffl - Filppula - Voracek
Weal - Patrick - Konecny
Leier - Laughton - Weise

That 3rd line could be sick and could get all three of them going. And this setup buries Weise's offensive liability on the 4th line. He did have an assist last night, but look at Sanheim's goal again. Weise had all day, clear possession, and an easy target, and he damn near put the puck into Sanheim's right skate and unshootable. That's gotta be on the tape every time. Weise is not a good fit on any top 3 line combo, but I think he could actually make a good 4th line player. I'd like to see him try

- MountainHockey

agree, Weise should be at best 4th line and honestly sit him and bring up Vechionne. what I dont get, Weise must know to be successful he must be a physical presence, yet he does very little in that area.

I love all the clamoring for Weal-Patrick-Konecny on the same line.

You do realize if that line is formed all of their asses will get stapled to the pine in tight games during the third period? Coach will go to a three line rotation and you all will be whining that they got stapled.

I think that's what we all need to accept. If the offense this there he can slack a little on the D side of the puck. I think that's why it's better he's with Filp and Raffl so they can make up for his brain lapses.

It wont really matter because Hakstol will change the lines to go with 9 forwards anyway...Weise was playing in place of Konecny towards the end

The Flyers see Vechionne as a center. He would replace Weise unless someone else is moving to wing which doesn't seem likely.

I think eventually Weise will be on the 4th line but right now with Konecny on there they have been playing well and it seems to be helping Konecny a little. once Konecny starts to find his game I think you'll see him move up the lineup.
