ABSOLUTELY. Okposo has his feet underneath him again, and is using them...only time before they start going in on a more regular basis.

Also, Girgensons has looked good since being sat down. He has been a very disruptive player down low and in front of the net.

I like that line’s energy the last two games.

10 points in 14 games puts him at close to a 60 point pace for a whole season.

I think with their recent trade, they are probably done moving d men

losing 2 in 5 months, Beauchemin and Bieksa off the books

Lindholm, Fowler, Manson, Montour, Larsson

maybe Botts can get Welinski as a throw in for Kane

I still like Ritchie if they can pry him
I think he would be a very good winger for Jack

big body, not afraid to go to the front of the net

- homiedclown

Sabres should try to pry a young D out of Carolina.
Slavic looked solid last night, I don’t watch many Huricane games, but his stat sheet over last 3 seasons looks good. Maybe Reinhart could do it?

That is 0.8 PPG. That is average #1 RW production there. I’d take that from him for sure, especially if he plays on RORs wing as a number 2.

I don't think the Sabres trade for a big guy they're looking for Speed imo

I truly believe Housley needs to sit Silent Same for 2 games...hopefully he gets the message. If he doesn’t after 2 games, sit him for 3.
Tough love works.

I think the sabres are looking for (almost) nhl ready D . Like an Ahl defenseman. Playoff bound teams will not be giving up a top defender.

The teams that will be willing to give the most

:are teams that are on the outside of the Playoff picture looking for that player (Kane ) to bring them into the top 8.
: maybe a gm on the hot seat needing to make the playoffs to keep his job.
Vancouver, calgary, chicago, Minnesota

Desperate for the now, not worried about the future. Basically the position tmgm was in signing okposo and trading Prysk for kulikov

Not a bad idea. He really needs to step it up. The good news in all of this is that Rhino's an RFA and his negotiating stance keeps going down with each passing game. 2 years @ $2.5 million/yr tops is where he is playing at right now.

I think that Botts will remain patient with him in terms of potentially trading Reinhart. Remember a year ago when Kane was getting in bar fights and accosting women? His value was at an all-time low. Everyone on this thread wanted to trade him for a bag of pucks and 4th rounder. Due to GMTM's and Botts patience, Kane's value has never been higher. Likely will net us a minimum of a 1st rounder and solid prospect.

Most on this thread want to trade Rhino now because he has been invisible. Don't ya' think that every NHL teams scouts and GM's are watching him play? It would be a terrible business decision to sell him now at Reinhart's all time low. The only way I would trade him now is if i got a very good return for him. He is still very young, he was a #2 pick, he had 40+ points in his first 2 seasons. And he is supposedly the smartest man on skates since Einstein! But seriously, what's the rush to sell him off now at a low? At the very least, throw him on Jack's right wing for 30 or 40 games and let him get his points. Then you trade him.

Then tell Jackie-boy to go focus on another 3 goal/4 pt game Tuesday, lol.

Seriously, if they even consider that aspect I would fire whomever it was that did so.
Sure, have a conversation with him ... ask for his help in convincing Sam he really needs to step it up, soon....like real soon.

Gus has looked terrific since his return. F I Romberg correctly, Okposo was sat for a period or two as well, shortly before he started to come back to form.

So that sir is the $3.5m question.
Now while is value is at the lowest, or gamble on him turning it around to create high value...albeit at the risk of further deterioration.

I’m done with him as a future part of this team, question is when to make the move.

Agree with all this.

Question is the Process to increase his value.
If it were me, sit him for 2 games and have him in the Sabres box watching with a coach to help him “see” what needs to happen.

Return him on a line with Jack, have a talk with Jack about setting Sam up to get his confidence rolling.
Like you said, get his points.
Trade at deadline or offseason.

I think your suggestion is a good strategy. Sit him for a game or two and then put him in a place to succeed with Jack. Even I could get 40 points riding shotgun with Jack.

Remember all the good looking teachers arrested for sleeping with students. This is not one of them. Not only did he sleep with a male student, but he is HIV positive too.

INTEREST IN SABRES’ KANE AND O’REILLY

FANRAG SPORTS NETWORK: Chris Nichols cites TSN insider Darren Dreger’s Friday appearance on Buffalo’s WGR 550 where he talked about the trade value of Sabres left wing Evander Kane. “The expected rate of return for Evander Kane is significant. I believe that, in a perfect world, Jason Botterill would get a prospect, a first-round pick, and perhaps an additional draft pick on top of that,” said Dreger, adding Kane is “right at the top of the list” of players Sabres GM Jason Botterill is getting calls about from rival clubs. Dreger also said that interest is limited (citing it as a timing issue) and there’s no moves imminent.

WGR 550: Dreger also said a few teams are inquiring into the availability of Sabres center Ryan O’Reilly. However, there’s no indication the Sabres are shopping him or that a deal is close.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Botterill told The Buffalo News’ John Vogl he’s still having discussions with rival clubs as he seeks to improve his club but there’s nothing close to happening right now. While I don’t doubt some teams are kicking tires on O’Reilly, I think Botterill intends to keep him unless the center asks to be dealt. While O’Reilly lacks no-trade protection, his $7.5 million annual average value through 2022-23 is almost as good as a no-trade clause during the season. Kane remains the Sabre most likely to be moved, but I anticipate that happens closer to the trade deadline as Botterill attempts to drive up the asking price.

Slavin is going to be in the Norris discussion for years to come. He’s great.

Faulk/Fleury/Bean would be realistic targets

Slavin/Pesce/Hanifin would be tough gets

serviceable for sure

curious to see what happens with him in the off season when he gives his list of teams to not trade him to

- homiedclown

I think his horrible start has overshadowed that he’s playing pretty well

If Botts is really focused on team speed,
I could see him wanting to move him though

This deadline & offseason should be very interesting indeed

It’s a bit of fuzzy math on my part bc I took out the 4 games where we only had 1 goal

I was just trying to illustrate that Okposo has been playing much better after that horrible start

Yeah, you’re probably right
Was just saying that if the Ducks were still gonna move defense for offense, it probably wouldn’t be Manson

I’m not a big Ritchie fan
Thought he was overrated in his draft year
I haven’t really seen many Ducks games though, so idk now...
has his skating gotten better?
That was the knock on him coming out
