The GM is absolutely more to blame.

I will say he did not look too bad last night. My main issue with him is we can't pay that kinda money for what should be a 3rd line player on any team with even an iota of depth. He would be an excellent acquisition for a team making a serious playoff run and needs depth, 3rd liner.
- lulags

His production is statistically upper 2nd line production.

I can't help myself

I still think Eichel with the right complementing players and some proper mentors will be an elite player. That breakaway pass to Kane was sick! If Kane buries that we may have pulled off a win.
- lulags

With the number of secondary assists he loses out on, and the number of primary assists he loses out on, because his teammates don't convert, he would be outpacing both Matthews and McD.

It's pretty crazy how often he sets up players in prime chances and it results in nothing.

I understand that, statistically, you can't bury every chance but something has to give.

One player cannot really do everything. They need a decent supporting cast. Matthew's success last year was beneficial due to his linemates going bananas as well. Crosby has other lines that create defensive mismatches. McDavid has decent linemates. Jack has Kane, sometimes. Kane still has a terrible shooting percentage, but is probably his best option when it comes to finishing.

I honestly think we need another center and move ROR to the wing for a few games with Jack.

We are basically in last place, what's the worst that can happen?

He needs to shoot more. I want HIM to score because the other people around him aren't doing it.

This would have been said last night after the game.

Practice in 15 min.... Full equipment no sticks.... Your all skating wind sprints... Tomorrow morning 9:00 AM same thing. if we don't play better Friday night.....Sat, Sun and Mon... more wind sprints.

Time to skate with some desperation boys or you will be doing this for the rest of the year.

yeah I'd be THAT guy....

I would do nothing just let them suffer for the rest of the year I don't want them going on a heroic 10th Place finish

You and I just have a fundamental disagreement on his value.

I see 21p in 32g and 20 mins a night as a positive, and an indication that he has to cover the butts of the bums behind him who couldn't score to save their lives in the first 25 games.

I like the player, and the contract represents fair market value to me. He couldn't be replaced on the open market for that price.

- jcragcrumple

I don't think he's bad. He's a good player. But for me it ends at good.

He hasn't been really good or great to which he has played like a top 20 forward, which his contract has been

Maybe Sam can pull some genius mind tricks to get him to shoot more.

I think we played well last night. Lehner's stock keeps going up. Scoring is clearly an issue. With our D-core buying into Housleys system they may be able to become a decent crew. Jorges still needs to go to make room for Antipin. If we could get 1 clear cut leader on D and Ghule is ready next year I think we are good there.

No for the offense

I does seem crazy to talk trading Kane when we are desperate to score. Let me say, as other have said, he won't sign here. Jbotts probably has an offer on the table for him im sure while he entertains offers. I bet Kane wants to play elsewhere. Buffalo does not offer the excitement he craves. We need to ditch as many of these forwards as possible between now and the deadline.

Now, let's assume Kane is gone and we gets picks. Let's assemble our offense and the ROR supporters can explain again why we need to keep him.

37.5% of the Sabres games this year they have either scored 1 or less goals
67.5% of the Sabres games this year they have either scored 2 or less goals

That my friend is freaking awful

Almost 70% of their games...how are you supposed to win if you only score 2 goals (or less)?

That's why I think we need to shift the focus to the offense changes. Our shot for are terrible in the last 10-15 games. We were taking shots out of the gate. I don't know why there is such a hesitation to shoot now? And we are inevitably losing our leading shot taker.

A lot of these players are just going through the motions and they just don't care anymore

They will start trying 2 weeks before the deadline so they get moved

It's the environment we built.

And they're not going to retire and give up all that money

They are probably thinking I'm not going to give up my body for this team I'll save my energy for a playoff team so I'm just going to milk it until they trade me

Silent sam (again last night) misses an open net and gets blasted. Hammered hard enough for most teams to drop the gloves ect.

The sabres just push a bit. Mr. Hockey iq needs to keep his head up. Maybe the sabres feel the same way about him. He's useless.

But, let's give eichel a nicknmae for hitting the post. The pass eichel made to kane: maybe 15 people in the world can make?

If eichel had any support, he would top 15 in scoring. For a 21 year old clearly immature kid.

Picking on eichel after a slow season makes ZERO sense, especially when you give silent sam (skunk ) a free pass for 3 years

We can't have nice things in sabreland

I cannot believe how often this is overlooked.

Meanwhile a huge chunk of Kane's points in the last 10 have been secondary a's (actually all of his A's have been)

They have last or 2nd last almost locked up.
Stay there.
Pick a #1 defenseman
Hopefully he can pair with risto for a top pairing nhl unit.
This season is purposely a building / tank year.

Deal with it, show some young talent next year, rope the fans back in.

Kane is an awful passer. He's our leading point scorer by pure luck.

Did you see Kane's cross ice wrist shot of a pass that's three feet over Sam's stick, hits the boards and of course goes the other way? If that's Eichel it's on Sams tape

I think we missed the boat on a Sam trade. Last year or last off season was the time to pull the trigger. His is too slow for todays game. He now has zero trade value.

I'm ok with moving risto too, if we get value back.
His contract 5.4? A year for his age is fair.

Just wondering if silent phil and his 5 man rushing unit is confusing or a difficult concept?

Risto has quite a few points over his career, especially with a couple questionable head coaches. He's definitely been a disappointment this year
