Was referring to Karlsspn injury. He"s missed just a few games beginnijng of season but clearly he has not been producing points.

Intrigue:That A Kempe is an add speed which Kings have sorely lacked since old coach Sutter

If you want to post about Kings, how about talk about what you expect from Gaborik, Pearson, Toffoli becoming a big time goal scorer and his skating. Also are you happy with the Kings depth on defense.

Because if Chicago plays Kings again, the storyline will overlook this stuff and regurgitate the old news about veterans Brown, Kopitar pick up their offensive game and Carter out injured

- jhawk59

Yeah Carter had pretty much same injury wasn’t sure.

Like Q. Sutter never gave the kids a chance. Kempe was used horribly with Sutter. I feel there is definitely more freedom with this team and they can play how they want to play most of the time. Doughty looks great this year. I haven’t seen him rush up the ice as well as he’s been doing in a few years.

Honestly a coaching change is exactly what this team needed. The 12 & 14 teams were great but that style quickly got stale. Working the boards and throwing it down low constantly was not working.

I like the kings Defense. LaDue and gravel are in AHL this year due to the signings of Fantenberg (has been scratched of late) and Folin and mostly due to the fact they are waiver exempt. Who I’m really looking forward to seeing is Kale Clague. That kid is doing great in juniors.

Honestly I think Muzzin will be traded for forward depth and I feel prospects l/ picks will be traded for another Dman. Sounds weird to say trade away a Dman for a forward and then go get another Dman. I could be wrong though. But I do think Muzzin or Martinez will be traded for forward depth.

You know if we trade Keith and Hossa that would be 11 mil, considering Hossa is at 1mil, and Keith deal was front loaded, maybe we can bring Karlsson to Chicago? And the cheap ass would get 11 mil at the cap but only have to pay out about 5mil a year.

He would look great on the power play, and in a Blackhawks sweater.

Keith, Panik + for Karlsson ??

Rockford lost 2-1 in a shootout last night to the Rampage.

Andreas Martinsen scored again (3 goals in his last 4) and has been a solid pick up by Stan for the IceHogs.

If anyone from the BANGER line goes down (*knock on wood*) watch for him to get the call up.

He is quick for a big guy, he's physical and has 119 NHL games under his belt.

Why not bring him up to be 4th line center and move wiggles to 3rd line center?

Top 6 & the 4th line as structured works for me.
Smaltz and the Cat are keepers.
That being said - if they could acquire a power forward like JVR or EKane and extend them I would endorse the move.

3Rd Line is a work in progress - Sharp takes a lot of draws of late & has looked better the last 4 games - maybe they acquire a third line centre but all this depends on the buyer - seller label

Yet to be determined

I'm thinking similar. With the top 2 lines looking much better with DeBrincat up with Toews and Saad as well as Schmaltz playing wing with Kane and Anisimov who is thankfully back on track after recovering fully from last year's injury, plus the 4th line bringing it for pretty much all season, the focus needs to be on solidifying Line 3.

As many have discussed earlier, teams with the strongest bottom-6 forwards do the best in the playoffs. IMHO, the 4th line is playing playoff-style hockey right now. The 3rd line is the missing link with the need for a center who can win draws and play a solid 3-zone game.

There's a good base of wingers to build around in Hartman, Sharp, Hinostroza, and Panik (although I'd think one of them would be part of a trade to acquire a 3C). As mentioned already on these boards, a center like Brassard (as an example; doesn't need to be him) would be nice as long as salaries worked out to stay cap compliant.

I like the potential in prospects like Highmore, Dauphin, and Kampf but think they are at least a year away still from providing exactly what the Hawks need at 3C. Even then, I see Highmore and Dauphin playing best on the 4th line as LW and C, respectively, eventually supplanting Bouma and Wingels in a year or two. IMHO, of these 3 prospects, Kampf has the biggest potential to be 3C.

I would love to see a Dzingel to Chicago trade. Seems unlikely because the hawks would be trying to pluck away a top 6 guy. Not only that, but young and fast. Can also play C/W. I think the hawks will be looking for a guy who can be a solid faceoff guy who can play PK. More center depth isn’t a bad thing.

Karlsson if traded is going to fetch a combination of prospects and draft picks. I would bet one prospect who can step in this year. Ottawa would reason that re-tooling means prospects. Not overboard on draft picks, either. Who has or will have a high early pick because all other picks is a crapshoot. This makes absolute sense when Ottawa can use the spin that they get a prospect already stepping into the lineup + something else. When an additional prospect and or draft pick is part of the equation, to include an NHL player is to assume whomever that is.....is not anything more than serviceable.

Karlsson cost a kings ransome because he can take you to a Cup

In a hockey market like Ottawa a trade has to be explained. This is the parameter for the most likely sort of trade.

They are not taking an older dman like Keith. Absolutely not interested. Panic is a bum, more or less. A heap owner is not wanting a throw in player like Panic because it adds more to the salary cap.. Now maybe they think retool means to ask for a young dman like Forsling or a young forward like.....well if smart they do not take a soft forward whom had one light concussion or an especially small DeBrincat whom could be made mash potatoes and never be the same.

We aren't adding a big salary as long as we already have three big contracts. Bowman wants Keith here until one or two young kids show they can handle top pair minutes.

I had to look it up, but the Hawks were 19th then 10th on the PP when Kompon was an assistant coach in 2012-13 and 2013-14. I assume he ran the PP when he was with the Hawks.

He would be a great addition, the price tag and term is note what Stan typically goes for. However, maybe he gets creative.

He would slide in nicely to the 3C and is physical enough to match up nicely in the playoffs.

Also, he's the type of character guy that the Hawks would like to add into the lineup.

Saw the twitter info from JJ that the Hawks may be looking at Evander Kane. Interesting to say the least. Could be a weapon on the 15/88 line. If this was re-hashed earlier my apologies.

Never say never, if he's worried about the bottom line Keith and Hossa are worth a lot since their contracts count so much against the cap since the contracts are front loaded, Keith around $20 million dollar payout at 6 years, $33 million against the cap 5.5 per, Hossa $4 million at 4 years, $21 million against the cap, $5 million per. That Hossa deal will have owners salivating since it'll save them $16 million. For an owner worried about money those 2 contracts are very very very appealing.

Smith would be a nice addition but he’s contract is pricey for what he is. He’s 29 and his cap hit is $3.25 million for 3 seasons after this one. Cap-wise Panik would have to go the other way and I don’t know if that makes the team much better. Ottawa isn’t the type of team that retains salary either.

Karlsson has 19 points in 25 games (only one goal) so he is still producing offense, but his -18 is pretty ugly.
- EnzoD

I would stay away entirely from Karlsson. Will be asking way too much money and his production is on the decline, unless Seabs goes the other way then maybe but that's not happening either....so pass, as well it would cost too much to acquire.

We would be better served by acquiring a player like JVR, Pageau or Simmonds if the prices are not too high. Would prefer a player that is not a rental unless we can sign him. E Kane would be good but would not give up youth for a rental. If we were top team and just needed that to put us over perhaps but right now we are not that team so long-term planning is better....i like what we did this summer with out acquisitions, character guys! And guess what they've been the difference on many nights so let's continue that route.

Not sure if Stan wants to consult with his dad. But Stan still trying to get his dad to return calls tableside. Chicago is the restaurant capitol of the country. Chicago magazine just had one issue ago/on cover: top ten steakhouse in Chicago. And i doubt Scotty frequents the new Portillos in his city. Although I heard Scotty watches some games from home. I don't imagine he can get Chicago style pizza ftom the grocery section. PS. Home is Tampa.

He gushes over Yzerman job ..How good, how deep the roster. But they haven't won three Cups. They kept their small skill guys ove the years M St Louis and now t Johnson. We moved TT.

Sort of mad we lost Danault but He was not a Smurf and Q messed up that trade and longer Cup run. We weren't good enough that year even if the trade paid better dividend if D Weisse had played better.

- jhawk59

I think you meant to say Stan instead of Q here because if you didn't yikes! Bowman made one of his worst trades ever with giving Danault away for hot garbage. Bowman killed this team's playoff chances that season by never acquiring a 4D and instead making his first move after winning the Cup resigning Rundblad. Now where I credit Stan is the trade for Ladd. Personally I thought that was a great move. Ladd led the team in hits in the Blues series and played well with Kruger and Hossa on that third line. But the defense was a trainwreck from day 1 and he failed in the offseason and at the TDL to fix it.

Scotty recommended Stevie Y for that gig and Yzerman has built that thing up. Unlike Stan who had the core and depth in place when he was handed the reins. Bowman did a real nice job of filling in around the edges for two cups.

Meanwhile what are the Hawks currently seeking - center depth - both Kruger and Danault are elsewhere and Stan handed Panik 2.8mil. Now that's GM I want running my team...
