Why... for signing Burrow to 2 years or other?
- Beatle_john

He gave up a former 2nd round pick and arguably a top 5 prospect (in ott organization) for a 36 year old burrows, and then proceeded to re-sign him for 2 more years.

No, they knew the team was paper thin on talent and needed everything imaginable to go right so that they might be a wildcard team.

It lasted 30 games.

The results were really quite different this season then they were last season. Missing a lot of key players right now. I don't get how that makes the team bad? It shows a lack of depth. I don't know how that makes a team bad.
- manvanfan

Agree to disagree.

If a team needs to be healthy just to be mediocre then it's not really a good team.

Starter is a goalie who was passed by all teams on waivers
Backup is a goalie that went to free agency
We have 4 overpaid and aging swedes
Our free agents in vanek and gagner were plugged into our roster immediately over prospects.
Mdz is in our top 4 due to defensive depth.
Our first line is comprised of actual talent but outside of them we are completely under average.
Virtanen has shown good steps. Goldobin has shown flashes. Outside of that... eek

It doesn't make the team look bad, the team was already bad. The team was void of almost any NHL talent to start the season. This was a garbage team from the very start of the season.

That entire team tho... all under performing. Dark times for that organization ahead

So NHL talent makes the team good.

The Oilers/Sabres/Coyotes/Senators/Florida/Colorado are more void of NHL talent then us?

Oilers are nothing without mcdavid+drai
Sabres have more talent but nees D
Coyotes have a good prospect cupboard but are in a similar boat as Van
Sens have way more talent than Van but have an idiot GM and owner and an awful coach who still plays a trap game in 2017.
Florida has reverted back to meat and potatoes hockey. Jonathan marsacheult (sp?) And mcginn for demers lol
Colorado made out excellent with girard and the picks but are clearly rebuilding.
Canucks belong with all of the teams you just mentioned

This isnt anything scientific, but thought it was interesting to see. I went through some of the team pages on Yahoo Fantasy Hockey to see what percentage Canuck players (excluding goalies) were taken in all Yahoo leagues, compared to some of the other bottom feeders... it wasnt pretty.

VAN: Boeser 76%, Horvat 33%, Daniel 25%, Eriksson 17%

ARZ: OEL 92%, Keller 52%, Domi 34%, Stepan 29%

BUF: Eichel 98%, Kane 91%, Ristolainen 75%, O'Reilly 52%, Reinhart 21%

DET: Larkin 69%, Green 66%, Mantha 62%, Zetterberg 43%

OTT: Karlsson 99%, Hoffman, 92%, Stone 87%, Duchene 43%, Phaneuf 37%

Again not scientific by any means, but really shows the perception of the team outside those that follow regularly. One rising star and the rest are cast aside

A team that is void of almost any NHL talent is doing better then these teams that have NHL talent.

What is your point. The team, along with all other bad teams you have mentioned, are doing bad currently, and you want to compare why some bad teams are worse than other bad teams. Cant you just admit and see things for what they are. All teams above are bad, whether its lack of talent, bad coaching. Awful gm decisions, etc. Good teams find ways to win, and bad teams find ways to lose. You can argue till your blue in the face that the canucks are better than what their record shows, but i will agree to disagree.

Henrik is taken in a measly 10% of all Yahoo leagues. Alex Kerfoot is taken in 11%
