Kinda confused why this team never gives its backups a chance. Worst case scenario, Ellis gives you exactly what Brossoit gives; best case, he runs high on adrenaline for his first game and shuts the door. Come on, Todd.

I was thinking the same thing when they played Brossoit back to back.
dubnyk is week-to-week by the way. so another backup saturday - KrisRussellIsBad
Fortunately, we should have Talbot by then. If not, I've gotta imagine Todd gets the hint and gives Ellis a shot- then again, this is Todd we're talking about.
I think this game kinda exemplifies an issue that this team has this season. The Oilers are among the league's top teams for shots from the point. That'd be fine and dandy if they were also leading on shots from the slot, but they're not.
Volume shooting isn't a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination. Even shots from the point can create havoc and panic down-low. However, when you're focusing so much of your shooting from the blueline, you're going to convert on fewer of your shots. Shots from the point have a dramatically lower chance (~5% lower iirc) of going in when compared to shots even from even mid-range (between 15ft and 30ft) unless you have a guy like Burns or Karlsson on the backend.
I don't think that's been the problem this game as they've still had a lot of solid chances from in closer, but this has been a trend that I noticed going back as early as the 5th game. I have yet to hear Todd make mention of it so is it something he's coaching his guys to do or is it something he's just not seeing?

Dubinsky with a broken orbital bone.
He took a run at Strome and elbowed him in the face, Kassian was defending his teammate and broke a guy's orbital bone.
Can't say he doesn't deserve it. - KrisRussellIsBad
There is no such thing as an orbital bone you stupid (frank). There are several bones that make up the orbit of the eye socket. So maybe try and (frank) OFF

That's very true. I remember Googling this 30 seconds ago. If copy and paste serves me correctly, the orbital "bone" is actually seven strong bones that make up the encasing of the open socket of the eye; these bones come together to house the actual eye.
USA Today, Sportsnet, ESPN, NHL.com, ABC News, etc need to suck it...
