Yeah......reduce our chances this year and give a reason for JVR to want to sign in sunny Tampa Bay.
But oh lets hear the ole "paying JVR will ruin a teams chances at signing other players that can "maybe" score 30 goals.
All for a d prospect that more likely than not become a non impact player |

Josh. Leivo.
Kid knows how to play hockey. He needs ice time - buddzy
I thought this might be so, but to this point he's not even a good 4th liner. At least Martin will crush a couple of opponents, Leivo is a zero at puck control, scoring and hitting this year. With this lineup we don't need forwards that simply exist.

JVR is an established player you send to the West to a team like Chicago, Minnesota, Dallas, Calgary, Anaheim, San Jose, Vegas, St. Louis, Los Angeles or Nashville. But not to the 1st place team in the same division. I like Cal Foote type guys in return but they shouldn't make the closest opposition any stronger either.
JVR and McElhinney to Dallas for Ritchie, Oleksiak and Lehtonen is the type of deal they should be looking for. |

3 way Trade
To Leafs - Tavares, Karlsson
To NYI - JVR 4th (Tor)
To Ottawa - New owner, 5th (Tor) - senstroll
Then trade Karlsson for Doughty! Now that's a real improvement. |

Or trade Marleau and resign JVR. Damn, 38 years old at 6.25 million a year and a NMC. So yup, trade JVR. - Unholy_Goalie
I AGREE! Babcock was so high on Marleau. Now he has him. I don’t find him impressive at all. He speaks soft but also plays soft. For $6.25mil I say trade him and let Kapanen have his spot. Leafs will figure it out what to do with JVR BOZAK and komorav. Marla or sorry Marlaue is Lou’s big mistake. Get rid of him. Man at 38 years old. Clear out the cap space. I’d rather have Weber if we r gonna have an old goat. |

Huh
I have no idea what you have been watching but Marleau has been one of the Leafs best most consistent players all season. Actually one of the Few guys using his speed right now

Good he has speed!! In the O zone and corners watch the speed kick in so as to not hit or get hit. I like his defensive play in D zone too. You and your speed! |

Lou and Shanahan haven't made many mistakes but Marleau was one of them. Unfortunately, he's not going anywhere with that NMC, age and contract. I don't mind veterans on a team to show the young guys how to be professionals but a guy like Jagr costs 1 million dollars on a 1 year deal. That's the type of old guys they need at this particular stage, not guys who clog up the cap space with a bunch of pending RFAs. |

Huh?
Marleau has been great. Not sure why all the negativety about him.
Where else would you spend his cap hit? You could be like the canadiens and just have dead space for it. |

Spend it on giving JVR a new contract? And eventually, Matthews, Nylander and Marner need new contracts too. |
