And I'm saying, if they didn't sign Marleau, it would be easier to afford them all, including JVR. - Unholy_Goalie
JVR is a good playing with good offensive production, which would obviously be hard to replace, but I feel like this team could float without him anyway.
It'd be awesome to resign him cheapish, but if not, oh well. |

If Marner has a good year next year, that could change.
I don't mind sophomore slumps if we get a long term value out of it.
It's annoying to see people say that "neither are as good as some say" blah blah blah. Both are going to be long term stars in this league. |

If there was a player they could trade him for that improved their team defence id be ok with it.
Defense wins cups. |

Nylander is the one who should be worried. He needs a deal this off season. Marner can play out his final ELC. |

I think Kadri's contract is the comparable that they will use. If your not better then him you will not get any better of a contract.

It's not impossible that they both pull a Skinner and have their best offensive years as rookies. They're both good players but they may not be the point a game guys we're hoping they'll be. |

I think everyone knows Kadri's deal is a steal though lol. The tricky part will be deciding between going on a cheaper bridge deal or not. Could backfire like the Canadien's when they did that with Subban should they go that route. |

Good point. J. Staal did so as well.
It's amazing how many first round picks are in the Leaf line up.
Matthews
JVR
Marner
Rielly
Nylander
Kadri
Gardiner
Marleau I think was too |

I doubt it. I think being a product of your environment says a lot too. Carolina sucks quite a bit and has the past couple years. While Toronto is on the upswing, and can be offensively dominant. Good players make a good team, but a good team makes good players better. |

This team can be so bloody frustrating to watch at times..
When Nylander and Marner come through the neutral with all that speed. They ALWAYS slam on the brakes and slow down the play, rather than driving the net or at least get a shot off
Another issue is we rarely shoot the puck, and when we do. We ALWAYS miss the goddamn net.
Also our PP looks clueless out there tonight. Just awful.
Rant over. |
