Eh. He was gliding and had a wide open net. Its a good goal but pretty much any NHL capable player can bucket that. Doesn't mean that its not a good goal or that players won't occasionally whiff, but I've seen Kuhnhackl score like that too, and he's not exactly super impressive.
He's not gliding quite as fast, but same general concept.
EDIT: Actually they're gliding at close to the same speed, its just that Kuhnhackl had been set for longer which makes him look a lot slower. - Victoro311
The only difference here is that Kuhn's isn't cross body which I think makes it a little more difficult (like the Kessel and Buch goals)

Still point being that its a one timer at a controlled glide on an open net. Its not this ungodly thing that only the best goal scorers in the league can do. Its a pretty standard fast break goal. The way Aussie sold it I was expecting Buch to still be skating at full stride.

I would hope most Pens players were able to copy what Buch did, but unfortunately I've seen plenty of times they haven't including Philbo. Simon redirect over the net - yes I know not the same but still talking skill, Ruhwedel or Rowney can't remember the exact same opportunity as Buch shot over the net by whiffing it.

No you didn't get my point. The point is it's not that ungodly thing that only the best can do, it's just a good shot. It goes with my comment about the Pens play & they're not as skilful as they should be, & we aren't converting chances.

Again, I'm not saying its automatic, and I guarantee Buch is much better at it than Kuhnhackl, but its also not that impressive. Its like a three pointer in basketball. Some guys are really good at them, some guys are bad at them, but at the end of the day its a pretty standard skill and most players in the league shoot at least above 20% from beyond the line.

Complaining about 4th line guys getting 4th line production is tiresome - Murphy_Dump
I'm talking skill level of the current Pens team. See how no other top 6 wingers were mentioned when comparing the Buch goal? That's the problem or 1 of the issues in my mind. Horny, Rust, Sheary, Shags.
They aren't getting 4th line production, that's the problem. - j.boyd919
Beyond the production, Sullivan refuses to put those guys on the ice in close games.....especially in third periods. The last couple of years he rolled 4 lines constantly.

chicken or egg though? Is there a reason he's not rolling 4 lines?

'Cause he feels there's no benefit. He doesn't think they can score (which he's correct). They're not particularly good defensively (again correct). And, they don't exactly possess the puck or grind teams down. So, what's the benefit?
I agree with the general point that our problems are far deeper than 4th line players, but at the same time it doesn't help that a few of these guys don't even belong on NHL ice.

It doesn't help. That 4th line is terrible and shouldn't play a lot. They must upgrade.
