Pretty much how I see it. This trade really can't be judged for at least 3 or 4 years. There are just so many variables:
Does Schenn's play trail off later this season?
Does Schenn continue this level of success for multiple seasons?
Does Frost turn into a solid NHLer, or perhaps a star player?
What do the Flyers get or do with the other first?
Any idiot can look at the deal now and say it's great for the Blues, but I'm pretty sure Hextall wasn't looking at 17-18 or even 18-19 when this deal was made. If he doesn't expect the Flyers to contend before 2020, the deal makes sense and it's a good deal for both teams. - BiggE
I'm just riding the waves right now. Hoping for the killer big wave in the future.
I'll be sitting in the arena tonight enjoying a cold brew and watching the kids and not worrying about the guys like Weise, Lehtera, even Filp and Raffl. It's not worth the blood pressure issues that the stress would cause knowing that this isn't the planned team when the real plan is being executed. Does anyone really think Hextall expects those 4 to be here when he has his final contending roster in place? |

Read should be on the roster and playing instead of Weise some nights, and Lehtera should be on the Phantoms. - Feanor

Weise offers nothing. We have the worst PK in the league and it's holding us back. Read has been a solid PKer for us for years. What am I missing? Let 21, 28, 12, and 24 kill penalties. I know the D isn't helping, but I'd think Read would help, no? |

Read doesn't have Raffl's size, but like Raffl he's a strong possession player. Weise is not, and that is making Patrick's adjustment to the NHL even harder than it needs to be because he has Weise on his wing most nights.
Weise has size, but he doesn't use it effectively. |

Read has clearly lost a step, a friend who has seen a few Phantoms games says he looks like an average skater at the AHL level at this point. With his skating diminshed, I don't think he'd be much help on the PK these days. |

(frank) I am really slacking today...
Actually I believe he was only knighted by his stage name, Sir Elton Hercules John. |

Or should I say, Sir Scoob. |

Weise for all his suckage is still a better player than read right now. I want read nowhere near our pk |

One of the things that made Read so effective on the PK was his speed, as he was able to cover ground and effectively forecheck in the NZ to slow entries. That speed is all but gone now.
But given the choice between him and Weise...I'm not opposed to it. |

Regarding Schenn, I'm glad he's doing well. I liked the way he played for the most part, but he was also pretty inconsistent. I also don't think he'd be playing the way he is for the Blues if the Flyers didn't trade him, but there's no way to know that. I also think two first rounders is a pretty good haul for what he was here, so I'm not mad about it.
I don't think there's any chance he wins the hart. |

I have to know why.
Edit: From IMDB
He changed his name legally to Elton Hercules John. He chose the middle name "Hercules" not after the hero of mythology, but after the horse named Hercules on the British sitcom Steptoe and Son (1962).
Huh, there's my learning for the day.
Now I have to figure out if his song Hercules is about him or the horse. lol |
