Math and facts belong in the same pile of trash, we don't want either in here.

Also, I was traveling and mused the game, what did Jake do too piss them off so bad?

Clean fair hit with a tiny bit of a high stick.

I thought maybe DP set a record last night.

Worst ± rating, game: Doug Wilson (February 10, 1993 against the Calgary Flames) and Chris Butler, (January 5, 2012 against the Boston Bruins), -7

Canucks are so tuff. Need better/higher lifts in their skates

I’ve saod this many times but we need a few goons. Softest team in pro sports. We are going to suck so we should at least protect the kids a bit. This team has no spine

Having a variety of views is great, having someone/some people dogmatically stick to their opinions in light of research and facts is dumbfounding. Especially when it's something concrete like percentages and numbers.

Look, I think you get a shorter end of the stick around here on some things, but dear god the majority of it is you. If you step back and see how many people have a problem with you/think you're a problem, even if you don't know why or think everyone else is wrong, that has to be somewhat concerning and enlightening. The sheer volume. There's no great conspiracy: you rub the vast majority of people the wrong way, constantly.

I wasn't making this a referendum on personality. Yes, challenging concepts isn't popular and people like staying in comfort zones. Nuanced distinctions are especially harder because the simple conclusions are easier to digest. I do expose myself in that track but that's my point to challenging thought. You don't have to agree and if you feel more comfortable being outraged then that's your prerogative.

Doesn't help the 3 highest paid players on the team have no spine at all. They would probably punch themselves in the face to save the other team from doing it.

You made the 30% claim so that is either hyperbole or not representative to the reality. The difference in percentages are miniscule and have no real effect on the odds. Too lazy to paste the links to statistical formulas that explain it.

Anyway, it is why they changed the system again after the McDavid draft to prevent tanking. Reason teams now are not taking measures to do it. If they fail because of sucking, injuries, rebuild status they accept whatever positioning they fall into as the same.

What they all line up with glee for is the lotto luck. GM's want the top 2 picks 3rd is consolation. From 4 to 10 not any real BPA difference just preferences per team. Some drafts extend further down to late teens.

- Nuck4U

Again, what you are saying is rediculois, listen to your self, no real effect on the odds? That is the very definition of what odds are. If your point is that the benefit of having a slightly better chance is not worth the pain of loosing games and “slowing or halting” development then make that point. Find some examples of when that happened and use them to support your argument.

Bad habits are hard to break for most players. The early and soft goals are hurting a team that is trying and trying is all they got.

Are we just starting to see the same thing the team missed last year in Dorsett and Gudbranson? With the help of missing Bo and Sven.

- manvanfan

Funny that they are all out now. I get where you are going here on player types. Even if there was better talent now there may be missing ingredients to team chemistry.

Protect the kids from what? How are they supposed grow if not to overcome adversity. I bet you have a participation ribbon framed on your desk.

The fact the Canuck's are spineless is not a secret. Yes very embarrassing. Having a boatload of Swedes doesn't help either.

Well that was just ugly and pathetic to watch, although I support a bottom finish, to increase chances of getting the best player possible, it's still disheartening to have to witness a team struggle so bad because they're missing two important players.

I can’t believe what I’m reading. You guys want to make a face puncher the highest paid player on the team? You think having a guy who spends more time in the box then he does on the ice will prevent goals against? Would one of Gudbranson or Dorset somehow made a 7-1 game more tolerable because they dropped the gloves, “protecting” who, Stetcher from a face wash?

I made some examples in other posts back there. Can revisit another time to clarify the distinction. On mobile and traveling but thank you for your input.

There's a difference between providing or challenging a concept, and just being a grating personality. Case and point from this thread (paraphrased):

- Nucker says there is a difference in drafting and odds if you fall further down the standings. You say the difference is negligible.
- Nucker provides statistics and facts supporting his case: in draft order (being able to only slide three spots), odds (percentage based on draft order), and a table showing the percentages of a player's impact based on where they're drafted from recent history (if you plot the numbers on a graph, there will be a measurable downward trend throughout)
- through all of this, you stick to your unsubstantiated claims and then try to use Nuckers argument as your own, sans explanation.

There was a John Oliver bit recently that I think fits here (HB gonna censor some words):

Sometimes, when you do something that makes a lot of people mad, it’s because—and bear with me here—you’re a Richard. If you sneak into someone’s house and urinate in every heating vent and they get mad at you, you’re not an ‘epic troll sticking it to the snowflake cuck’, you’re just some (frank)ing bumhole.”

Anywho, going to go back to skipping over your posts. Have a good day.

Being a Swede has nothing to do with anything. And i’m Not quite sure what you find embarrassing. Was PK’s headlock heroic? Is he a real tough guy in your mind? He sure showed Virtanen, i’m Sure everyone is real scared of him now...

Obviously with some more talented player this team would still be missing things. Probably won't know what we are really missing to put it all together till a few of the young prospects get in the league and show us what they are made of. Until then signing players like MDZ who will at least grind out games.

I don't blame him for the first goal either. Vanek stood there as Subban cut infront of him even though he could see that MDZ was under pressure. A reason why Vanek doesn't fetch much at the TDL.

Sorry, which kids are being protected, or not protected here? Do you think if D Sedin dropped his gloves and had a slap fight the rest of the team would feel safer on the ice. Would the Canucks have hoisted the cup if only for that one incident?

The team as it stands today doesn't have the desire/ability to stand up for themselves.

Very embarrassing.
