wouldnt it be nice just once to hear snow say the following

“We’re coming in to a critical period where we’ll make a decision whether we need to shake things up or not,” Rutherford told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Asked whether he would do something big to create a ripple effect to get his team’s attention, Rutherford simply replied, “Yes.”

Weight said it was a sluggish game. By both teams. Not true.

Dallas really played well to a man starting with the goaltender.

Actually he got his butt outcoached by Ken Hitchkock.

If that was Dallas playing sluggish then wtf do they look like when they're not playing sluggish?

Why, the Islanders are playing fine. They have hit posts and the goaltenders have basically lost them the games we have lost here lately. We don't need to shake things up. We just need better Puck Luck. It worked for Cappy to keep his job for 7 years plus and Snow's for a decade and still going so why not go with that again.

something needs to be done I mean a goalie is out (yes capt that could change) so do we address the d or 3rd line? if the (frank)ing guys playing goal could stop letting in mens league goals that would be a big help

Total sarcasm I hope you know.

Exactly, there are some that just getting buy won't cut it and is unacceptable.

It easier to make excuses and blame posts and goaltending then address the inefficiencies the team has.

I truly believe Doug Weight in his post game presser kept a positive attitude knowing the team had The BJ's tonight. Just my opinion.

I would worry about defense first, then goaltending, then any forward positions that might need to be addressed.

It's, obviously, highly unlikely that the goaltending is addressed during the season...so we can pretty much rule that one out. The goalies are what they are for now. Capable of dominating games and just as capable of being terrible.

My realistic shopping list between now and the deadline would be prioritized:

1. Defenseman - doubtful it's going to be someone like OEL. Adding a competent depth defenseman would be a good boost for the back-end

2. Bottom-6 forward - preferably one that can provide some capable defensive play. I don't have a lot of faith in Prince/Quine and Ho Sang may need to be sat/sent down at some point.

again i only saw the first but lucky bounce off the boards and a terrible goal on halak its 2 0. I thought they woke up after the 1st 7 min ad had chances. not sure after that but this team cant play from behind and it needs to be addressed.

I think the Isles will get in. Despite the frustrations last night (and probably tonight) they are still a decent team.

The rags still have 30 road games on the schedule and they're road record is pretty poor so far. I expect them will fade a bit. That should help. There is space between 9th and 10th.

yes like tonight. I think we miss kuhlamin more than anyone realized hes not offensive but hes great on pk and made a lot of simple smart plays. right now Id take a competent defensive guy on the back end as a top priority

I really don't even think that they played that poorly last night. They didn't play nearly as well as they are capable of, but if a few of those posts were goals and Halak didn't give up a pair of softies (or that first goal didn't take a funky bounce) that is an entirely different game.

Them and CBJ will both be coming off bad losses, so this figures to be an interesting one tonight.

- eichiefs9

To me they were a step behind the entire night save for a few mins and Ho Sang played so that didn't help.

I didn't even consider that ranger bashing. Since you're here, what do you think about it? It's mid December and they are facing 30 more road games.

well theres that, so how about we keep leddy and not resign dehaan or prince and keep the better player. this guy clearly doesnt watch this team but I guess we should trade our best player from our position of weakness

A legit 3rd line center and a top 4 would do wonders.

I agree something needs to be done. It does not have to be a blockbuster. I give credit to Garth for the Eberle and Hamonic moves, but Garth sits on his hands far too often and is not proactive.

I'm sure they are on his "no" list, but if MIN is looking like they might be out of the playoff race by the deadline...I would take a stab at Eric Staal. Shift Beauvillier or Nelson to wing and plug in Staal as the 3C. $3.5M cap hit this year (would be pro-rated for the remainder of this year) and next. MIN is pretty tight to the cap, so I don't think he'd be too expensive to acquire.

Kane would be an interesting choice too, but I suspect market demand will drive his price up too high.

I would pony up a whole (frank)load of assets to try and pry Mark Stone out of OTT. He rules.

kane would be nice but could we fit his salary? stone played in bingo and the fans hated him then he went up where there was talant around him and now look at him
