10 games isn't enough. You need at least half a season to let the kid get adjusted. Up for 3 games down for 3 months, or up for 10 games but only playing 8 minutes a night is not going to get it done.
It's like playing John Scott on Grigorenko's wing. WTF are you trying to accomplish? - Wetbandit1
Yeah I agree, it just seems like in this day and age, it's rare to get a shot with a line every shift for 3 games, let alone 10. I'm still very intrigued by Baptiste, and I'd like him to get a good, long look with Eichel. Especially when considering they've had highlight reel success before |

Talk smack when your team wins the cup in a league with more than 6 teams
You're vilifying Kessel who was arguably the best player on the 2016 penguins - jcragcrumple
This has nothing to do with the Laffs. Nor should my views count for more if the Laffs won a cup |

was posted in the past . very few skaters use that technique . Very few learn it and are able to use it . Does seem effortless . - cabin
That's what I thought. I don't know why, but I want to say it was Beady who posted it. |

It would be a Botts move, IMO, from what we have seen so far. He likes his vets and Spezza isn't exactly Molson.
His experience would do wonders for the locker room, I think. - BeadyEyedDouche

I think he likes Pommer, but he took that salary to acquire Scandella. Just my opinion |

Definitely.
Scandella is a slightly overpaid #4, but pretty reliable and more durable than Bogo.
Risto is a good #3.
We gotta figure out the 1/2 combo. |

Bogo played a strong game last night.
Kane scored

I'd be surprised if he get's more than a 1 year at this pace.
He's on pace for 25-27 points. You don't hand out 3.3 mil for that - sbroads24
I think that's on the high side. People saying $4M are on crack. But I also don't think he gets much lower than $3M. His first 2 years were far too good to get that little(sub $2.5M). Since everyone outside of Kane and Eichel are woefully underperforming it's tough to tell the cause.
If he does get significantly less, like $2M-$2.5M it could be a one year show me and hopefully the team is better and everyone's numbers go up.
But I see the Sabres trying to get him for 3 years at a lower than market value to try and save some money. Based mostly on the first 2 years, regardless of Jack's contribution. Lots of guys get paid because they're the beneficiary of a great player. He also scored at a 39 point pace without Jack even on the ice last year. Not great, but it's not like he went and scored 3 points in the first 21 games. |

Silent Sam is negotiating from a bad spot. He is a restricted free agent . He can sit out, demand a Trade or sign.

Kessel had 66 points in 152 games his first two years at 19 and 20.
Eichel had 113 points in 142 games at the same age.
They aren't fair comparisons. Eichel will be better
Risto and Phaneuf are pretty comparable - sbroads24

Just landed in Vancouver (for work) and rode the train from the airport to the downtown area. Coincidentally, I ran into John Van Boxmeer. I noticed his Sabres travelling bag with the name "Van Boxmeer" on it. I think he was startled when I said "hey John, how are you doing"? As most on here would know, Van Boxmeer is the Sabres west coast pro-scout. He lives in L.A. and is responsible for all pro scouting from Denver westwards.
Anyway, I walked and chatted with him for 15 minutes. Below are some of the key takeaways
- He is in Vancouver scouting the Canucks/Preds tonight.
- he just spent 4 days in San Jose scouting the Sharks. Prior to that, he was in Anaheim for a few days. He is off to Edmonton tomorrow to scout the Oilers/Preds game.
- I asked him about when they were going to trade Kane. He just laughed but he said there definitely is a lot of interest in him.
- I asked him what's going on with Reinhart. He said two things - "skating and heart".
- He thinks the last couple of games they might have turned the corner a bit. He insinuated (didn't say names) that some of the young guys on the team might feel a wee bit entitled. He said particularly the non elite guys who are playing in the NHL have to bring it absolutely every shift.
- we talked about Jack's unorthodox stride. He said because his stride is so long, it can be very deceptive.
- I asked him what Jason Botterill was like. He said very smart and very organized. He said there is a "night and day difference" between Botterill and the previous GM. I'll take that as a positive towards Botts and a negative towards Murray.
He was a really nice guy. We are staying in the same hotel so we might meet up for a beer after the game in the hotel bar. However, if he reads this board, he might take a pass.
My first "insider" contribution. Nothing like Homie or 89' but at least it wasn't the hot dog vendor. - SabreWest

I think that's why they eventually agree on 1 year, or he ends up traded.

Way too soon to try & decipher J Botts
For example...
does he like cheap plug ins like Griffith & Tennyson?
Or did he just sign them to keep the kids in Rochester?
I’m sure hoping it’s not bc he thought Tenny & Griff would actually be productive players for us |

The question is why does he deserve 3.5 million?
I would give him 1.2 million Max that's how much he's deserving
