I agree with this - Forbes ranks them 20th in value among franchises at $420 million. With an owner that has known financial issues, a team like this will bleed money if they fail to make the playoffs. Future not looking so hot for them. That $420 million figure smells even worse when you consider that Seattle will have to pony up a chunk of money north of $600 million for a franchise.

the fee for the next franchise to go into an untested market is 650mil
id rather buy the sens for that money tbh.
just for reference the clippers were valued at something like 500 million and sold for 2 billion. Basketball is a different thing but thats a huge discrepancy |

Actually not a comparable. Ottawa small market team - at best, LA Clippers in the second largest TV market in the US. Owners - Melnyk - financially in trouble, Balmer - richest sports team owner in the world. Former CEO of Microsoft and their 30th employee hired, has lots of shares of Microsoft in his portfolio and it doesn't hurt to own a team in Silicon Valley for such an owner.
