Rest Matthews against Detroit. You don't need him to beat them. It's a scrimmage game for the Leafs.

Nothing is a scrimmage game for a team that gives up 40 shots a game.

I've been hoping for Quebec. I don't think Bettman is though.

As soon as someone/government/city coughs up the money for a new rink - its done.

That said, I do think they'd do better in Houston.
- BINGO!

The sale sets up a really weird dynamic - you have an owner from Houston who one would think would like to move Carolina (non-existent tv market) to Houston vs. the Coyotes, who are reportedly in financial trouble, and no where near getting a new arena.

Interesting times.

Bobby Ryan has one goal this year. ONE. And costs $7.25 Million per year.
- BINGO!

He was super underrated at the start of the season and a great player...per the radio.

Mr 320th in scoring was also a top-six guy with offensive upside, in the Sens thread earlier this week.

FFS, they have lost 12 games of 32 - if I told you before the season started that they would have 41 points 2 weeks before Christmas - I'm sure there would have been no complaints.

Has big money, so he can make improvements, but he's also not going to want to bleed money to be an owner. The thing that could help keep the team there are the ties to golf.
- winsix

Could be. Given that he's the Co-Chair of TopGolf and owns 25%, I wouldn't be shocked if he plops one of those down near the arena in the near future.

He'll own the company that operates the arena as a result of this too, so that should help.

They will settle on Quebec
- winsix

Nah. It'll be Houston.

The market is too big there for them to just ignore it.

It'll go like the Thrashers to Winnipeg did... Real quick and Barroway, who has no business owning an NHL team in the first place, will sell the Coyotes to Fertitta. Keeps the conferences balanced and solves a lot of problems at least short-term.

I'm sure he'll want to improve it himself. If Houston gets a team maybe he can sell this one and buy that one.

Would a league allow such a thing to happen?

Craig Leipold was basically gifted the Wild after he sold the Predators to local investors.

Went to the game last night. We had pretty good seats, several rows behind the Flyers bench. On the whole I thought the Leafs played respectably in the first two periods. I thought the officiating was (frank)ing brutal. The refs let everything go except for the two ridiculous tripping penalties, one where a Flyer literally skated over a Leafs stick and fell down.

In the third period, I thought the Leafs just ran out of gas (not surprising when you've played 3 games in 4 nights with travel in between) and werent winning races for pucks or the 50/50 puck battles.

Being something of a connoisseur of mediocre Flyers hockey, I thought this was more of a schedule loss than a poor performance by the Leafs.

The Wings could have 40 shots on Limbda and they still wouldn't score.

The Couturier goal was a great shot, and its one that you almost never see him make. Thats not his strength. Thats one of those things, where if you're a goaltender, you give him that corner and take everything else away. If we were talking about Ovechkin, then you say... hey, gotta be aware of his shot. But, this is Sean Couturier, not known for having a killer wrister.

SCREW YOU, FLYERS FAN!

Typical d-bag Flyers move, coming on here to gloat...

...wait a minute.

This is actually pretty objective and well-thought out.

Are you sure you are a Flyers fan?

forgot about the videotron ( what a crappy name ) - I guess they can call it Le Nouveau Pepsi Centre. They should have a franchise, may piss off Habs fans, but hey.
