What’s wrong with Borgman?
The other three can suck it. |

We are 5-1 with the best player on our team out of the lineup.
And still doing quite well in November/December, where Matthews has looked off (or out). - Atomic Wedgie
Very true but of the 12 losses this year (one in OT) Leafs have sh!t the bed against lousy opponents for the most part.
Devils 6-3
Ottawa 6-3
Carolina 6-3
Philly 4-2
SJS 3-2
LA Kings 5-3
St Louis 6-4
Arizona 4-1
Florida 2-1
Washington 4-2
Vancouver 2-1
Philly 4-2
Need to get up for games against weaker teams

I hope the Sens panic and trade Hoffman away.
I know it won't be to the Habs but he's a good player.... might as well see him leave the Sens.
Hell looking at Ottawa's lineup.... it's still a mystery as to why they are so goddamn bad. |

No it isn't. Their roster (frank)ing blows. Especially on D. |

agreed.
5 bottom pairing dmen/ahler's and half a dozen or more 4th liners/ahl forwards.
plus an aging goalie who could never handle a starter's workload. |

Recent events seem to indicate that living in the glory of the 16-17 season will have to do for a decade or more - and even that may depend on whether the franchise remains in Ottawa that long.

I would no longer call throwing in the towel to be panicking.
Let's look at some back of the envelope math, shall we?
Senators currently winning at a 43% rate - on pace for a 71 point season.
Last year, you needed 95 points to get into the playoffs.
So for their remaining 53 games, they need to win at a 66% rate.
That means going 34-12-7 (you can play with the numbers - this is just one example).
Is it likely that a 9-13-7 team is going to be able to hold a closed door meeting, commit to playing better hockey, and magically turn it around to close out the season 34-12-7?
The Senators' season is over. Trading away players isn't panicking - it's smart. |

Karlsson is Karlsson, might play injured or something but he's one of, if not the best defenseman in the game today.
Phaneuf is a solid 2nd pairing option, despite all of you hating him.
Ceci sucks and is overrated as balls.
Borowiecki sucks
Oduya is over the hill.
You might be on to something Bingo old pal.... I guess Methot WAS important to them.

this is such a myth. phaneuf was an offensive dman, who hit hard and sucked in his own zone. constantly hemmed in.
now the offense has dried up, he's basically useless. |

Trading away players you don't believe can help you make this team better, sure.
Hoffman is a good player, not signed at a horrible contract.... if he IS the guy going away.... they better get something good for him.
Bobby Ryan, Zack Smith, Burrows, Phaneuf, Ceci... now those are the guys you want to ship away.

Phaneuf is still a guy that bring a team 30ish points while being a physical presence on the backend and not a complete pylon.
He's not worth the money, he's should have never been considered a #1 defenseman...
But he's a decent #3-4 on most team.
Imo. |

sens don't have enough picks to include in a deal to ship ryan away, let alone the rest.
though some gm may overpay for ceci |

Bobby Ryan has one goal this year. ONE. And costs $7.25 Million per year. |

He somehow turned it on in the playoffs.
But yeah that's one of the worst value contract out there. |
