Dude, would you not agree that the team is in a funk where they've been consistently outplayed?
Just because there's criticism doesn't mean people are having a panic attack and want to burn down MLSE. - mjones242
Not really. They have played some really good games. Some games that they shouldn't of won and won. There is no need to overanalyze it.
If anything they are winning games with what was their 3 best players at the start of the season aren't playing even close to how they can play. |

I blame Walshy for poopting on Konecny for this loss. - AdamFrench
(frank), he was a warrior out there.
Must've been one of the stars of the game, surely.
Already up to 4 goals this year.
Bloody good job our management didn't trade everything away for a Dman. Our rebuild would've resembled the Sabres/Oilers, blowing their load too soon.
Another top 5 pick this year is just what the doctor ordered. |

The Leafs deserved nothing out of last night's game. Too many passengers. Had it not been for Freddie, the game would have been over at the 30 minute mark. - BernardShakey
Agreed.
Goaltending has kept this team in the win column the past several weeks, while the rest of the team kinda just float around.
But last night, there shifts of Hyman that showed exactly why Babs plays him on the first line. |

It baffles me how fans don't bother to look further than the numbers.
If you don't count the games that Andersen stole, we would be out of a playoff spot.
There's been a few games where Kadri has played way above his normal level - those games shouldn't really count in the win column.
There's been at least a couple of games where the other team hit a post late in the game - a true hockey fan knows that those games should really be considered losses.
And the Leafs have a 6-1 record this year in extra time - so you may as well subtract about 5 points from their record.
Basically, the 41 points they have in 32 games is a mirage.
You know when you see a mirage? When you are wandering lost in the desert, about to die.
Enjoy your sushi, Loafs fans.

Don't forget that game Martin had a 3 point night. Another loss right there.

Tell me about this kid Dahlin - is that who we should target with our lottery pick?
Season is over, boys.
Over. - Atomic Wedgie

We are 5-1 with the best player on our team out of the lineup.
And still doing quite well in November/December, where Matthews has looked off (or out). |

I wouldn't worry about it - Dubas will end up trading the 1st overall - we will eventually end up with 31 5th round picks. |

A good stat for sure.
But its mainly cause our best player the past month or two has been 11-4 with .940 save percentage or something like that.

Yeah Having one of the top players in the league injured or invisible for the last 10 games might drag down the team a bit... |

Marner needs to hit the damn net
Slumps are inevitable, once the wonder boys get going again they'll be back on track. I'd just like them to get some more playoff xp this year and see how they tinker in the summer. |

Is Matthews on the trip? - caper_12
Yes.
https://www.thestar.com/s...as-leafs-face-flyers.html
The 20-year-old second-year player is travelling with the Leafs, and will continue on with them to Minnesota (Thursday) and Detroit (Friday). There is no indication when Matthews will play again, but the fact he is on the trip suggests the Leafs expect him to play in one of the next two games, barring setbacks. |

Which it hasnt, so not the argument to made.
With or without matthews, the team effort and play have always been questioned.
But they win (for now), so people overlook it. |

The true value if the first overall is
1 - 2nd
1- 3rd
2 - 4ths
1- 6th

They need to split up Gardiner and Z
Maybe move Cyborg up into Z's spot for a bit? |

Andersen was quite awful the first half of the season. The team picked it up for him at that time. Now it's the oppsosite

I thought Z has been playing well.
Imo, the forwards are the ones who need to step it up defensively. Doughty said it best.
I do want to see Borgman getting tougher mins eventually though |

I don't see it that way...I find them way too soft in our end. Get to the puck 1st and come out of the corner without ever touching it. |

Meh, that happens. It's a puck battle someone has to lose and you can't win em all.
I think they have all done their jobs quite well the last bit.

I guess....it seems the cycle is long and hard in our end when they are on the ice.
Time to mix the D up again IMO. |

I hope he plays against Detroit. He always wreaks them. No lube. |
