If we have to move simmonds, I would want a younger version of him back and someone to slot in top 6 on LW.
CBJ and Flyers have a history...Josh Anderson, Sonny Milano, plus pick for Simmonds.
I would think that works for both Teams. - juiced
I just can't see the Flyers moving Simmonds to a division rival. |

I get that but we have long history dealing with them...Carter, Bob, Hartnell, etc.
They are in their window now and Simmonds could help them.
Milano and Anderson fit our projected window. Anderson is a big (230lbs) RW, Miano is a decent sized LW with speed and skills.
This was just an idea based on if it looks like we can't (or don't want to) sign Train to a contract extension.
As much as I love Karlson....I'd rather lose one piece to get 2-3 potential vs. losing 3 for 1. Flyers have done that so many times and it never works out for whatever reason. |

That history is sort of outdated at this point. That was when Columbus was in a completely different conference, with different GMs.
The Hartnell trade was a salary dump, so I don't even count that.

Simmonds and 2 1st round picks to STL for Brayden Schenn - Mordecai
Blues would have to take a salary dump.

Carter was ages ago and they weren't in our division then. They were also still in the Western conference when we dealt Bob to them. Hartnell was the only deal done with them since they moved east, and that was a salary move in the eyes of the Flyers. Unless a team is going to massively overpay, there is no way Hextall is moving Simmonds to a team in the Metro. In fact, if he is moved, I'd be willing to bet it's to a Western Conference team.

Probably, but I doubt it will ever happen as I don't see Hextall moving quality assets to add a dman. However, a top pair of Provorov/OEL would be pretty cool!

He's only signed through next year as well. Perhaps if he hits FA we see Hexy work some magic. |

Yeah.
Columbus does fit but any deal in the division would have to be a huge one.

I am not totally sure. There were some teams interested in him as a FA. You might be able to find a swap where you get back more size or someone who can kill penalties.
Edit: Would Florida do something like Sceviour for Weal? - J35Bacher
Vancouver were interested in him as a free agent.
But since the Flyers have the roster space to call up Lindblom now if they wanted to, I'd rather keep Weal around so Lehtera stays a healthy scratch.

What about someone like Trouba? If the main components are Simmonds and Trouba, who would need to add? |

I think Trouba is overrated and some team is going to regret the FA deal they sign him to this summer. He's good, but I don't think he'll be worth what he gets in his next deal. |

Trade Weal to Vancouver for a pick, trade a pick to FL for Sceviour, Lehtera remains in the Cote suite. Problem solved.

I was wondering what's the tipping point for trading Simmonds? Would you give him an 8 year deal at 6 per, 5 years at 7? (just throwing numbers out there). |

I can't imagine Hextall signing him for 8 years unless the cap hit was WAY below market value. Factoring in his age, the most I'd offer would be 5 years, 35 million. I'm not too concerned about the 7 million cap hit as I expect the cap to soon be north of 80 million. I just don't want him under contract past the age of 35, its too risky.

I think he is getting something around what Ladd and Backes got if I had to guess. |

Let me be the first to refer to our #2 overall total bust with no offensive upside at all, who skates like shutdown seanie, but way worse... let me be the very first to refer to him as Nolan Patrik Stefan. |
