They tried, but Dorion finally bite the bullet and that has to do more with your owner wanting him more than Turris. If Eugene didnt stick his nose in hockey ops (as the rumours say) this wouldnt have happened and Sakic probably still would be waiting this out

I havent done a 180 at all, I have always said if they dont get full value for Duchene that they should keep him. I didnt want to see him move pennies on the dollar.

They didnt get what they wanted but got a damn good secondary multi piece haul back. The same can happen for EK, but with how public this full market value talk already is, and him struggling right now, they better figure this out sooner rather than later bc it wont be loooking good for the Sens if Eugene gets involved again in a major trade

- DDM-Coga

this.

melynk is going to be too cheap to pay him and force dorion to make a trade under pressure.

The same applies to Karlsson.

They shouldn't trade him for pennies on the dollar, and it's a little presumptuous to assume they will. These things could have hurt the value, but it's a lot of speculation at this point. If they do move him, they'll still get a lot back.

That's what I was referring to. You were quick to call people out when they did it to Duchene. It goes with the territory wit star players like this.

Perhaps.

The cap is going up, and going to continue going up, Melnyk's going to have to pay out a ton of money anyway.

Might as well be for the player that makes him the most money.

Or, these rumors of the team being sold are true, and all these money problems go away.

There is merit in going after a guy early, but whens the last time a team has thrown 3 or 4 Prime future core or already young core players in a trade.

The sens will get a big return on him, but they arent getting the Eklund Karlsson for Lucic, Draistaitl, RNH one of Klefbom/Nurse/Larsson and a first

Remember this all comes down to money for Eugene. If he doestn want to pay fair market value for EK, he isnt going to add 18-20m in salary on players he gets in a trade

- DDM-Coga

Sens won’t get that kind of deal if Karlsson is traded. It will most likely be one big piece, a first (maybe 2), and a couple of supporting pieces. We all know the team that trades the big name never gets that quality in return right away, other than one for one deals. Trading Karlsson signals yet another rebuild.

I don’t think Eugene has a problem spending money on 3-5 guys (in a return package). The concern is locking a guy down that makes the amount of 3-5 guys alone. That hurts more in a budget world.

Regarding your ownership point, there are persisting rumours that the ownership in Ottawa is changing. Eugene seems to be getting this team into a position to sell. Biggest clue for this as he has been way to quiet over the past couple of months. Once a downtown area is approved a new ownership group will be in place. Already several rumours that the group is the group who lost to Melnyk in the Lebreton Flatts bid for a new area (only land rights were won).

This is important when discussing Karlsson. If Melnyk is still around, it’s 50/50 Karlsson leaves in my mind. If a new ownership is in place, he will stay. The optimist in me thinks that an new ownership group, arena, and Karlson extension will be announced in the summer.

That would be a dream come true.

In regards to rebuilding, trading Karlsson would most likely signal a rebuild. Sure would be nice to have next years pick if that was the case.

Im not saying they will trade him for cheap, however temper expectation with these multi star return packages. The only thing that is different here is that you have one of the dumbest owners in the league. I also called out the idiots like AlfiesSalad when it came to duchene trade talk.

Runs his mouth off in public (he was talking about Duchene last year scoffing at the price to the media) yet still goes after him

Who trades turris bc they dont want to commit long term money to him, open to trading EK bc he doesn't want to give him full market value. Eugene does way more harm than good when it comes to the Sens roster.

I dont think a sale, new ownership group, and new arena will come quick enough to save this situation from getting further out of hand. Has anyone crediable who coves the Sens mention this or is it just hockey twitter rumours?

I dont follow the sens so I have no idea what is going on in that city currently so I probably am out of the loop,

Regardless I think Karlsson is good as gone. Arena deals just dont pop up over night, unless there are solid bones to rumours of a new one coming soon, it wont just pop up in 4 months

Remember Eugene let Alfie go over money. The most beloved player in franchise history over a small 1 year contract squabble

Further out of hand? You mean blog site trade proposals and quotes taken out of context? Or the hearsay rumour that Melnyk was livid with Karlsson for being honest?

I don’t disagree that Melnyk can screw things up (Alfie is a prime example), but a change of ownership would change a lot of things. Not sure why a guy would hold a grudge if there is a new boss in town. It’s like breaking up with a girlfriend, getting a new one, and blaming everything that is wrong because of the ex.

The bids for the land took months/years already. The area would be years as well, but a step in the right direction. You hate this franchise so bad, it’s hilarious.

Sens will end up bending over backward to resign him. He likely get 10-11/year depending on how much the cap goes up.

Blues would never actually make the deal Ek suggested. Some new poster suggested it just because he had a hard on to get into an Ek blog for some reason, knowing it was completely ridiculous.

Hate would imply I have feelings towards it.

I have the same thoughts on the Sens as the Panthers. They are just teams that exist in the league and dont even both to care to spend any energy in at attempt to keep current with them.

I just love how sensitive the fan base is on here, so cute trying to scratch and crawl for relevance

Didn't you say Aflie (the troll not the player) made you hate the Sens.

I mean, you literally had peopled sending you personal messages every time someone said something bad about the Avs in the Sens thread.

Sounds like you care about them just a tad.
