There seems to be a completely out of bounds valuation concerning Danault - he is a below average to average player at best. I wouldn’t want him but he wouldn’t demand a lot in return. - Z3Hawk
Below average? Nonsense. Danault in his first full season scored 40 points, which isn't a hell of a lot different than Anisimov. He's on pace to push 50 points this year. He is a tireless worker, plays a great 200 foot game and wins draws. Would look spectacular centering our third line. |

The Hawks knew this... Bergevin just wore Stan down to include him in that deal.
The Hawks PR narrative was "well we have Kruger, no need for a guy like Danault" which was bull.
They knew Kruger's contract was going to be an issue if there was no other cap relief.
Should be a Hawk still IMO. Q liked him a lot and he'd be getting tons of d-zone starts on a shutdown line, taking pressure off Toews for faceoffs. |

We have a similar player in Dauphint sitting in Rockford. Speedy C with edge. |

Yep. LOVED drafting that kid. A poor man's Toews (at least pre-2016 flavor). A non stop motor, supreme character, just a pure hard nosed kid. I was beside myself when he was moved for a couple of healthy scratches. NO, he's not probably an all star, but what a great depth piece, ala David Bolland/Marcus Kruger, but with way more offensive upside than Kruger. |

Dauphin is not even close to the player Danault is...Dauphin will probably never score more than 20 points a year. He's totally Kruger light...Danault coulda been a bit more Bolland, but with better faceoff numbers.
IF Dauphin was on par with Danault he'd be in Chicago. |

I said similar. And we have several guys in the Rock that could come up and contribute. No room right now.

40 points in first full season playing center and on pace for 48 this year.
Pretty pretty pretty above average.
Plays in all situations. Young. That would be an excellent player to add. Certainly better than anything the hawks have in the 3 or 4 middle spot. |

We do have some guys who "could contribute", but NONE are like Danault. He's a center who wins draws and has shown to have plenty of offensive capabilities to score 40-50 points in a season. There isn't a center on the Hogs right now you could pencil in and say the same thing.
I am sorry, but "a bunch of guys" is not the same thing as Danault even if Danault isn't scoring hat tricks every night and trading out Danault for a "bunch of guys" is PRECISELY why this Hawks team is ? to make the playoffs. Danault in Chicago??? He's centering Line 3...the dumpster fire that has seen the Hawks actually attempt Hartman there and now they've given the job to a smurf. Vinnie looked good in games against AHL teams, but Thursday will be the test. |

If the Habs put him on the market you damn right the Hawks would be smart to add him if they could, but I doubt the Hawks could get him for press box fodder like the Habs did. |

Interesting scene in Ottawa right now and you guys are having some great back and forth on them being a potential trading partner.
I'm looking into whether the Hawks have reached out but it would make a ton of sense.
OTT is falling off the rails quick, tanking after dealing Turris (due to future financial reasons) and now with the Karlsson / everyone give me your no-trade lists... it's not pretty.
The guys that make the most sense from the Hawks perspective of who the player is, age and term, while also keeping in mind what the Hawks have to offer are:
Pageau
Zack Smith
Nate Thompson
Gabriel Dumont
Ottawa doesn't have a ton of cap space (2.7M according to capfriendly) but are looking to go into savings mode.
The Hawks are sitting with about 2.2M in the Hossa slush fund.
So money would have to be pretty even which is why a Brassard and/or Hoffman might be out of the question unless AA goes the other way.
Ottawa and Dorion need a "win" in any way so getting their hands on a Hawks prospect may be something they have in mind.
If Zack Smith made a little less, he's the exact "character type" player I've been talking about; a guy the Hawks would love (and have liked in the past). He just doesn't have a contract they love.
Pageau is a guy they may have interest in as well.
Let you guys know if I hear of anything! |

I think it’s way too early to make those kinds of projections for Dauphin, after all he’s only 22.
Limited NHL experience, Dauphin is only 22, Danault is 24.
Dauphin has played 32 NHL games 3G 1A. When we traded Danault he had played 32 NHL games 1G 4A.
AHL experience:
Dauphin 129 games 33G 31A
Danault 153 games 20G 46A |

Actually a Panik (2.8mil per) + a prospect could work to get Brassard and still be under the cap
I'd offer Panik and either Hartman or Hinostroza to get Brassard. He'd be very good for the 3rd line |

If the cap wasn't an issue, I would think the Hawks were looking at Kruger and Danault as a both/and not either/or. Of course, that wasn't the case. With both Kruger and Danault gone and scouting reports on prospects like Kampf, Dauphin, and Highmore being similar to Danault (strong defense, relentless on the forecheck, constant motor, plays big regardless of size), I could see those 2 of those 3 eventually centering the bottom 6 lines in the future. |

Hold on, is this an actual Justin rumour?
- Hawkster
It reads more like a conjecture, but cites past sources for rumors and preferences of the hawks front office
Also I think Dorian has received a call from every other GM in the NHL, at least just to window-shop prices in the fire sale and also to update their own market gauges.
If he hasn't, then the missing GM's aren't doing their jobs... |

Wonder if Q would/will double shift Kane with Hartsy and Hino. Has been talked about them 3 training together over the summer. |
