Want no part in a Flyers JVR FA signing. The kid looked like a legitimate NHL superstar in the 2011 playoffs when the Flyers got swept by the Bruins. He was never able to get his skating and puck-handling together enough.
- Pixote Andolini

I’m not pushing for it by any means, but a lot of posters were heavily against it and I couldn’t understand why other than potential contract demand. But I’ll never forget that series; he was an animal. Maybe the only bright spot in that series.

Contract demands and the fact that we'd need to give him top 2 line minutes to get production from him. MEH.

Not old enough to have watched Zarley Zalapski, but that is an awesome name and 49 is way too young to die
- YuenglingJagr

My friends and I used to love his name when we were young. We always joked that he fired the Zlapshot.

Wade Allison appears to be on a better developmental trajectory than German.

Hot taek

Cue the NCAA is sub-par, German's adjustment, etc..

I like German. Wade has just been showing more.

The talent in the NCAA has been growing. Allison had his second hat trick of this season over the past weekend if i'm not mistaken.

I really wonder if Allison turns pro after this year. He's got NHL size and shot. Would be fun to watch him in AHL a little.

JVR is a great player - but he won't be worth what some team gives him.

He's a guy who is all but guaranteed to be offered a contract that he can't possibly live up to.

Somebody will give him in the neighbourhood of $7 milly X 7 years.

And that someone will end up regretting it.

- Atomic Wedgie

The problem in my mind with JvR is the road taken since being traded to Toronto, which is no fault of his own. If JvR played on a line with Jake Voracek and Claude Giroux the past five seasons, instead of Tyler Bozak, I think JvR has more impressive numbers than he already has.

In my opinion money should be the only concern when it comes to James van Riemsdyk.

NCAA isn't subpar for a player his age. He turned 20 in Oct and is second in the NCAA in goals. Also not just the number but how he scores them. He gets a lot of greasy goals in front but can also one-time them from the circle. Legit prospect.

With Rubtsov, I expect a bigger 2nd half if he can stay healthy. His season hasn't been disastrous (24 points in 23 games) but he's capable of more than that.

Of the 65 forwards in the Q age 19 or above German ranks 26th among them in primary points per game. It' a stretch to say he looks great. I'd assert that Allison is having a better year comparing them side by side, not just relative to expectations.

I'd rather have Schenn back than JVR.

I really think they're missing one piece up front, assuming they resign their own key guys who are up, so they can and should be patient. There must be at least 100 NHL wingers who could be plugged into this lineup and improve the team instantly, but we only need one.

I agree with this. It would become the same scenario as AMac.

A whole heck of a lot less people would complain about AMac if he were making 2-2.5 mil less per season. JvR contract and expectations would be bound to leave the same taste in our mouths.

I don't follow the QMJHL closely. How good is German's team? does he have a supporting cast?

The last I saw of German was during the Russia vs QMJHL mini series a few weeks back and he appeared to be one of the stronger guys on and off the puck and a fluid back checker.

sure, if that is what is important to you I will buy that. I dont think anyone could be disappointed with the season Allison is having...strictly from the viewpoint of pro outlook on the Flyers, I think they're both doing well

I'm just curious and would like to hear of your perspective on what prompts you to associate the word great with how German is doing?

It's a bit strong for me but would value your thoughts.

That was great. Riche broke Krecji's wrist game 3 as well which helped turn the dynamic upside down.

What a series.
