Recent quote from Aquilini: "I am pleased with how Jim has performed. I’m optimistic we’re going to come to an agreement with him.” They are not shopping for a new GM.

You want edler, he can be a good mentor for parayko. We'll even pay for his flight.
- SRam19

How much salary are you retaining?
He can be a good mentor for the young guys with his experience and his contract is gone before the nucks are competitive anyways so idk why you would trade him away. Not like you're getting anything back

We get the relief of not seeing him play in our uniform.

He inherited a mess, but it takes time to break it down and build it up. A lot of NTC's and long term deals he had to slowly move or wait out. I am happy with the current trajectory and the style of players he's acquired through draft/trades. If only some pan out, the team will be exciting to watch in a few years - that'll be on JB

Personally I dont see a big correlation between Calder Cup winners and Stanley Cup winners, thus I only care that when our important players are there, they play. So far thats been the case with Markstrom, Baertschi, Virtanen, Goldobin, Demko, etc

- WhiteLie

All I am saying is an experienced GM would turn it around quicker . A guy like Rutherford or Davidson (Pres).

I don't really mind if they sign JB or if they move on .

Thanks Carol!

I think if owners have done their due diligence, then a GM should have 6 years with a franchise to be given a fair opportunity. A team can get a new voice with a new coach and see things change quickly; but a GM changes the direction of the franchise and patience is needed before seeing it come to fruition. There is the stability aspect, but I also think that if you did your job at the beginning establishing a plan, then you need to see it through before deciding on changes

Could get on board with that. Many draft picks/prospects take 3-5 years to show potential. For a GM to really put his mark on a club I would say it needs to be over 5 years.

I'm going to stay out of this discussion after this post. But lol at anyone who thinks cap space/management doesn't matter on both short term or long term deals.

Let's see how that plays out.
- VanHockeyGuy

Whats to play out? Oilers r a serious disappointment. Standings matter not if we higher or lower than them.

Exactly, I figure 1-2 years of breaking down the old roster and acquiring assets, then another 3-4 years of drafting, developing and building before you begin to know what you have. Took Bo another year of junior and broke out into his 3rd NHL season, Boeser 2 years of college and is having a great rookie campaign, and those not taken in the first round will take even longer to impact

Merry Christmas to you too Codes! What sort of outrageously expensive trending baby item did you buy your little one this year?

Haven't heard on TL. I'm in the minority here where I don't really care if TL is here or not. To me the organizations President is just a figurehead I don't actually have a problem with Linden...it's the Aquilini's that are the problem can't really put that on TL.

I am ok with JB getting a 2 or 3 year extension to finish restocking, and then getting a new GM. We need a new pres asap.

As long as JB isn't in charge of signing any big UFA deals or attempting to trade for an expensive veteran player then I guess I can live with this.

Name a team in the NHL that doesn't have at least one of those?

Not every team does. I'm on my phone so I'm not gonna go through all 31. And it made no sense for a bad team to sign a 30+ year old to a 6 year 36 million dollar deal.

Anyway he'll waive to go when Sedins retire or get picked up by Seattle in expansion.

- Nuck4U

So every bad long term deal in the NHL is just that easy to move eh?

Best hope is another compliance buyout to bail us out.
