I hope so. Vanek and Gudbranson should be on the block.

Ideally Edler, but that's not gonna happen

- Nucker101

Wasn't that the plan for the way this season was set up...? Rebuild but stay competitive enough(not be a cake walk) to develop youth to earn roles and learn good habits in aggressive system with faster pace.

But if Guddy takes a reasonable contract he probably gets signed.

We're assuming it was. Let's hope it is.

Gudbranson is a #5 dman in today's game. People need to accept that.

The pom poms must feel heavier tonight.

Greener thought they played well 5v5, limiting the other team to only 17 shots

Did Biech factor in all the injuries for pace? It's no surprise that a team that had no margin of error would not thrive with key injuries.
- Nuck4U

Of course he did, he uses the same algorithm the NHL does when determining the final playoff standings: (Wins+Shootout Wins+OTL) x (man games lost+projected production)

Always thought he was a 4/5 especially as the game changed. But his intangibles make it complicated in zeroing in on market value.

Look at the Jets' intangibles guy, Hendricks. He makes peanuts and plays a limited role which he's more than happy to do. You don't have spend 4M+ for that.

So you're saying that we'll finish even lower than last year then?

Oh baby

- Nucker101

Reminds me of this stat from Patterson before the game, this is not a good sign :

#Canucks will try to beat Jets tonight with just 4 players in line-up with more than 4 goals this season: Boeser (15), Vanek (7), Daniel (6) & Eriksson (5)

lol okay nice one ....

Also joking aside on man games lost...that part can be skewed as losing Gagner who had similar production to Bo last season isn't even close on actual effect on team.

This is what rebuilding teams with little depth looks like, it's just rebuilding.

Hendricks doesn't have the same intangibles or comparables in age etc. so why he gets peanuts.

But I never said what the $ value is for Guddy. Just hard to zero in his market.

Sure, but there's dmen out there that can do that and bring more offense at the price tag he was rumoured to be asking for. Or you can just sign a dman who brings that at a cheaper price if you don't want to pay extra for added offense.

Benning had a deal done to trade him for Demers apparently, Demers is an offensive dman who brings some grit, but not really known as a PK guy and not a fighter.

True, but PIT has been among the leaders in that category for years and hasn't stopped them from winning Cups. The results of the game are the results of the game, people that care about man games lost hang their hat on Canucks winning the Cup if Hamhuis and Raymond didn't get injured

But since you care, heres the chart showing the season to date. Canucks are not as bad off as LA, ANA, & Vegas to name a few

He hits, can fight, is a leader. What else is there?

Age, sure. But I'd rather pay peanuts for a stopgap vet who can stay healthy and then deal with signing a new guy later.

So, if Sutter and Horvat and Gudbranson and Baertshi got put on LTIR, similar to earlier this season with Erickson, wouldn't it free up some more cap space?

Reality always hits once you realize what else is going on around the league.

Ducks have been destroyed by injuries this year.

LA without Jeff Carter

STL started the season without Steen/JBo

Vegas has started like 10 different goalies

They get temporary relief during their recovery, but I believe they have been recalling/maximizing the usage in order to utilize it for Boeser's eventual performance bonuses.

If I recall correctly, the performance bonuses are calculated at the end of the season and if you have space from LTIR you can apply it to that season, otherwise it carries over and the following season opens with less space
