Trouba wants to play in the states so the Jets almost have to deal him in the offseason. Trouba should not cost a ton in assets like other dmen will. I love adding Nelson in the deal because I'm done with him and the Isles save money letting de Haan walk as well. I just do not like the Isles chances in UFA and those signing rarely work out. - ses111
I think Trouba will cost a significant amount of assets, but nothing that will cripple the Islanders down the line.
To me, whether you love him or hate him, Nelson has to be in the deal. He probably isn't going to get a long-term deal from the Isles (and shouldn't) and is also (like Trouba) an arb-eligible RFA. Gives WPG a flexible option at the 2nd/3rd center spots, as Bryan Little isn't getting any younger. Isles can afford to part with one of those first round picks. I am the biggest draft-whore out there and I would be more than happy to give one up for Trouba. The (potential) addition of a 3rd asset is where things probably start to get hairy. The low end of that could be something like Pelech, who is cost controlled at a minimal price for another 3 seasons after this one. Or, on the high side, something like a Beauvillier/Ho Sang/Bellows. I assume the Isles wouldn't love trading any of their better young players/prospects. |

It would be insanely tough with how much we pay CC, and CC. Plus If they want to re-sign Bailey it's not going to happen. - Dedshark
I mean, I'd take Karlsson over Bailey any day of the week...but I hear you. I forgot that Karlsson is going to be 29 when that deal is up. As amazingly-talented as he is...I'm not dying to give a 29 year old an 8 year deal that is around $12M AAV. |

Correct chief. A Trouba deal should not wipe out all the prospects. Defense built around Leddy, Trouba, Toews, and Aho with Boychuk playing 3rd pair is not bad at all. |

before you start getting too excited bout Toew and Aho on islanders its worth noting that Soundtigers are 12-10 this season. I would exactly be saying our guy are dominating down there. - Spartiarti
as everyone knows the jump from ahl or jr's to nhl is very steep. very few can do it. i don't think that toew or aho are ready for 15-17 mins a night.
as far as dehaan goes we could sign him to a 4.5-5 mil per yr deal and still have enough $$ for jt. i would rather have dehaan than a ufa from another team for the same money |

If Pulock weren't included in the deal, we'd easily have a lot of years with the right side of the defense being: Boychuk, Trouba, Pulock. I'll take that any day of the week. |

Rather go for OEL cost a lil less, better chance at resigning. |

de Haan isn't taking $4.5M or $5M from a team that gave him a hard time in negotiations last offseason. He'll get $6M+ on the open market and I don't blame him for a second for taking that route. |

Cause lets go back to the we need a winger for Taveras times again, face it Bailey is that winger thanks to Weight. |

It's not a knock on Bailey, it's simply that Karlsson is an exponentially better player and, if forced to choose one of the two players, I'm taking Karlsson 11/10 times. |

ohhh ok lol. I was gonna say. If OEL happened to be less than Trouba Garth needs to pull trigger instantaneously. No clue if I spelled that correctly. |

Just thinking about how Leddy, Trouba, Toews, and Aho can skate and move the puck.
Boychuk, Trouba, and Pulock on the right side not bad at all. |
