Arizona would not accept that.
They'd want Pulock, Toews, 2 firsts, Beauvillier, Soderstrom, and a 3rd AT LEAST - bgainesDM
I've been the biggest OEL fan and I've said to many people that their offers aren't close enough. This is probably too much. That's our best d prospect, 4 1st round picks, a top goalie prospect and a 3rd. There's no way we do that. |

We shouldn't do that. I'm just saying that's what Arizona would want. |

Or maybe a regular GM looking for a big haul for a top pair, young 26 yr old dman
For example, think back to what we got for a 26 year old dman with injury history that will never be top pair and was our worst dman analytically last year(yes worse than Hickey.) OEL would triple that. |

this starts a little odd but gets to it
edit I also really enjoy watching this - Upstate_isles
As good as this is, start watching him in the d zone, watch how many players, some of them the best in the league that he strips of the puck, he did it to Malkin the other day and Malkin didn't even know it was gone, Weight used his line on the first from Washington and believe it or not I think Ladd adds to the their defensive prowess.

With the team this close and the division so tight I expect metro teams to make moves including the isles. Currently pulock is taking this opportunity to be more assertive and aggressive and is playimg much better ironically it's his d that's been the better part of his game. |

You know me. I'm always ready for trades and hope it happens during the season. I'm just not giving up 5 or 6 pieces for OEL. He is not Bobby Orr. |

Most people come out with trades that don't include enough. His trade proposals are always insanely over the top. |

If you're talking about MacDonald that was 2 2nds and a 3rd. Philly ended up paying him 30 million dollars afterwards. That trade was an absolute steal for us and that contract they gave him was an abortion. Just because Philly overvalued a guy 3 years ago doesn't mean OEL is going to cost you 1/2 your farm system. The isles would have to give up a substantial amount I get it. But there's reality and then there's you.
You also wanted to give up a poop ton for MAF not too long ago. |

I love OEL and I'd do pretty much anything to have him on this team. Maybe if the guy agreed to a contract extension before the trade I'd offer up some absurd amount. |

How does trading Hamonic for a 1st rounder and 2 2nds equate to 4 1st rounders, a 3rd, and two top prospects? Hamonic also had 3 years left on his deal that was INSANELY cap friendly. |

Meh -- that's a massive price no matter what. No single player has been traded for a haul like that in recent memory, especially not in the standard two-team trade. If you (not you) want to swap Soderstrom for Halak or Greiss and remove one of Pulock or Toews then it starts becoming a little more reasonable. Otherwise...pass.
OEL is a fantastic hockey player, but he's not some sort of untouchable superstar. |

I meant only in terms of what that trade proposal was. I don't disagree that he is a supremely talented player. |

he is a top 10 or 15 d man in the league
S.I has him at 8
nhl 11
and this one used analytics
2. Oliver Ekman-Larsson
OEL is my poop. He's one of 2 defensemen in this tier that I'd label "perfect" in the same way I'd label Bergeron. He has no faults. You just keep looking for things he isn't elite at and you can't find anything.
Shot quality for? Against? Rates for and against? Possession? The PK? The PP? How about his qndCorsi, anything sketchy there? Point production? Penalty kill, powerplay?! ANYTHING?!!?!
Nothing. Nada. Zilch. He's one of only 2 true do-it-all defensemen.
But, we get the same small, western market problem that happens with Gio, Klefbom, and Tanev. He's great, but in a subtle way, and no one watches so he's overlooked. This, despite him scoring over 20 goals in each of the past two seasons. This kid is good, this kid can play, and if he's not in your top 10 D in the league, then you've probably (frank)ed something up.
this isnt a dig at you I know youre aware how good he is |
