Yeah Nash is still on a contract he got when he was scoring 30-40 goals every year. He's also 33. How long a term would you offer him?

The other guys are younger and all of them would make the Flyers better today but they are going to get longer term offers than I think Hextall will go. I did see the overpay on a shorter term floated and i'd certainly be open to that.

I wouldn't offer Nash more than four seasons or more than 5 million, if that. I would kick tires on the LW crop of UFAs coming this summer. Obviously if they price themselves, you don't sign them but no Flyers fan should be satisfied with our current roster and not want to upgrade.

That has a lot to do with him not playing center.
Puck isn't on his stick quite as much. Maybe thats what yoy are saying...

I don't know if doubling your shooting percentage is considered "rejuvenating your career"

Let me start off by saying, I know I throw off the wall ideas out there. Some have been way off but let me say that James van Riemsdyk is a damn good player. I've seen a lot of him since he's left. I don't know what you guys think you know about him but I'm looking at his point totals and his point totals back up what I'm telling you. Money is always going to be a worry but that doesn't mean stick to the same plan because this current plan isn't working.

Brayden Schenn wasn't good enough to play here. Bobby Ryan. James van Riemsdyk. Evander Kane. As I recall, before Steven Stamkos resigned with the Bolts wasn't good enough to play here because Giroux was better. So I ask you, the people, who is good enough to play in Philadelphia? I'm not that interested in waiting for Morgan Frost to develop before we finally contend.

Easy beaver, did I say Hextall would click his magic slippers together and poof Nylander is wearing orange instead of blue? Simply said I would target.

Simmonds is a Ontario boy you can't tell me the fan base in Toronto wouldn't salivate at the thought of Simmonds joining the club. Also all the reports are that 29 GM's would be calling Hextall if Simmonds is indeed on the market what makes YOU think that Toronto wouldn't consider the trade if it brings heart and soul to the club?

- SimmerDown

IMO not going to happen for one reason, Toronto is going to be paying out their ass soon enough for new deals with Matthews, Marner etc coming off ELC, Simmer is going to commad likely in the minimum of a 6-7 mill per season range. Toronto is not as stupid as they used to be by signing a few big name players and having little to no depth behind them because of payroll. You trade Simmer there and guaranteed they want to send a Lehtera back to make the cap work out for them.

Personally, I'm trying to not sign any of the people you bring up for 5-7 yrs 6-8 mil per year, which is most likely what they'll command, with all of these promising young players who will need big raises well within 3-4 seasons. Those FA contracts will become horrendous, and we already have 2 big contracts on the team.

All of those guys are upgrades, and all of those guys are "good enough to play on the Flyers", but none of those guys' prospective contracts are conducive to the future, which is what is so promising for this team in the first place.

I like Nash the least of the 4 guys you mentioned. He probably will be good for being a reliable 20-25 goal guy another four years. Rags fans don't like him though and complain about soft play and not showing up in the clutch. The Flyers do need another winger but I wouldn't include changes at center (let Fill walk and use the cap savings on a UFA wing) in those calculations until a few other things happen (Patrick's 2nd half).

This current roster is frustrating to watch for me too. I'd like to see a FA acquisition with some size and one that doesn't hurt the long term. Not an easy task and probably not likely, given Hextall's propensity to draft and develop. It's tough to watch Schenn be 5th in the league in points while we wait for the trade to come around. And there's no guarantee Frost even makes the team. As to who the Flyers can pick up, I don't have an answer. I think most of those players won't be available.

With where the Flyers stand, no 'star' FA is coming here unless the club overpays, and probably outbids any other team.

In that case, no thank you. Know who I want? Connor, and the Jets need to make a move at some point here. Its where I am shopping Simmonds.

So we take Lupul's contract, it's off the books after this season.
The rest just comes down how much a team wants a certain player. Yes I am just speculating that Toronto would be willing to make a deal of the sort but I would bet 2 seasons from now Nylander and Simmonds are making very similar salaries, you cannot tell me that they wouldn't make this deal simply because ELC coming due.
