Not at all.

That was his first off season. Anyone who thought scandella, a career #4 who we acquired using trash even by sabres standards, was gunna come in and be good in the top pair role was out to lunch the same way they were when Kulikov replaced gorges on the top pair.

We got Beaulieu for a third rounder for a reason. Scandella, Pommer, Beaulieu, Antipin, Benoit... These are low risk moves that have the potential to give you good value.

Some work, some don't but it was the right approach short term while botts figures out how to fix the mess TM left behind.


Edit: none of these moves were going to cover up for the fact that they have an incomplete core
