I would do this

Keller is fantastic. I really do love the way he plays. Still, I don't think this actually helps us. It would be a reset on the rebuild for sure, but I think we're further away from relevance after this trade. Jack is the "real deal" no other player coming back would be.

I can't blame him for taking that idea out to dinner, but he shouldn't take it home. A mini rebuild is fine, I don't want scorched earth again.

If he goes scorched earth I will consider that as him creating his own job security and nothing more.

I'm sure JBotts is caught like a rock in a hard place. This is not the start anyone expected. We are on pace to be the worst Sabres team in a decade and this was supposed to be a rebound year. He is a smart guy. I'm sure if he ever pulled the trigger on an Eichel deal it would have to be a play to move several bad guys out.
Although I say I would do this deal, I don't think he would trade Eichel for the plain and simple fact that he is a generational talent

There's no point in moving Eichel to move bad contracts. By the time you've recovered from losing Eichel, the contracts would have expired anyway and Eichel will still be in his prime

It would be just like this franchise to trade one of their 3 good players. If that were to ever happen, I'm out. I don't know what the offers consisted of, but what player out there is worth it?

Even assuming you got for example, Doughty and 2 firsts plus a prospect, chances are you pick Tyler Myers and Drew Stafford in the first, the prospect becomes Hudson Fasching and Doughty is old by the time any of it matters.

Dumb dumb dumb

No harm in that. If someone wants to overpay significantly, we're only in a place to let them. Even for the outrageous return I posted though, can't say I'd be excited by it.

The post-tank years, lockouts, reduced scoring (until this year), interference rules and a general lack of interest has already signigificantly diminished my love for NHL hockey. If they traded Eichel, they could move the team to Moose Jaw and I would would just start following baseball.

If the Sabres weren't good in '05-06, I would probably still be a leafs fan.

But yeah, trading Eichel would finally do it for me. I wouldn't trust them to ever make a smart move again. 7+ more years of looking for a #1 center again, hopefully in the return you would unload Bogo or Okposo, and the draft picks will become Vanek and Tallinder-calliber players and we're the 2010 Sabres gunning for that wild card spot. No thanks

Pitt 19th
CHI 22nd

So in reality we are still better than most teams.
