Lack of better options and our GM's ideology of leaving prospects in the minors for development. I don't think it will last longer than this season.
- RhinoFan

But I see your point. They clearly have a better program brewing in Rochester and they don't seem willing to upset the balance. Hence Moulson situation

He has the speed for the game and he seems to be the best we have at getting shots through. His issues are that he makes blind passes a lot (the drop pass to JT for a breakaway comes to mind) and he lacks the strength to get big forwards off the puck. We've gotten hemmed a couple times with him on the ice because they cycle on his side and his man remains open.

I'm open to moving him, but he could be a bottom pairing guy on a good team IMO. He needs to get some more PP time, he's looked good there to me.

Well I tend to think of him as a rookie in a way. If he is making a few mistakes but also showing flashes then I think that is fine. Im sure this isnt exactly the best situation for a guy like him. I mean hes basically trying to adapt to the north american game on a tire fire defense corps and with limited playing time. I think if he can show some offensive flare and PP ability, he could be a fit going forward.

This.

This year it should be a priority to play this guy and coach his ass up....as well as McCabe and get Risto playing solid...play within himself.

F Bogo and Blowboy...those guys are lost.
Gorges is a goner, plug him in as needed.

He has performed ably and is still transitioning to the North American game. probably worth keeping as a bottom pair guy 2PPQB.

But that depends largely on the shape our top 4 takes

IMO

Its gotta be tough to do so on this terrible defense. I would hope that Housley could help him with this but it almost seems like hes not really getting the love that he needs.

I think Mr Hajt might be lost as a D Coach from the on-ice performance and many of the D stalling or regressing.

100% right. Shown flashes, looks great sometimes, but makes rookie mistakes.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. If we had even one Dman who was worth a Shat that could show him the ropes he would be a top 4 guy this year I bet.

They don't have anyone as good as Eichel. We may be picking first overall this year, and we're not gonna find a center as good as him in the draft. There's no conceivable reason to do it

Of course there are, GMs smell blood with this team. Trading Eichel would be the absolute dumbest move in the world, unless you're trading Eichel, Risto and the 1st overall pick for McDavid, why bother?

Like i said, even when taken as a group of assets, that group will never be as valuable as Eichel

Anyone could be had, I'll tell ya though...that OT highlight the other day does him no favors in raising his value, Yotes are trading OEL but not sure a 10 million dollar man is in their future.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
We have several players of a core, but not all, and our support personnel suck. The key to success is keeping the partial core we have acquired, completing the core, and getting talented support personnel.

The key to success is not jumping from bridges.

- Der Kaiser

I the quandry as I see it is:
1) they have tons of money tied up into 3rd liners, soon to be more if they sign Silent Sam ... Sam ($4M?), Pommer ($5.5M), Okposso ($6M), Pouloit (low$) that is $15.5M withthe 1st 3
- trade Sam in my mind, let ERod have that position who is cost controlled
- live with Okposso for another year or 2 and then try to off-load him when he has less term as a negative
- Pommer is fine for another year / or dump him at the TD and retain Pouloit for 3rd line

2) significant holes in the Top 6 and no real prospects yet proving they are ready to grab the open slots;
- Nylander (big IF, young but his stress test is showing signs of stress),
- Mittlestadt (maybe, let's see what he has in the A 1st),
- Bailey (not shown it yet)),
- Baptiste (not shown it yet),
- PU (maybe, shows promise in Jr's, let's see what he has in the A 1st)
lot's of hope, no proof ... need someone to step it up.

3) Kane is a big ?mark, very productive since he has been here, low hockey IQ, has he matured, will he become complacent after $$$? There is risk here with him.
- Should be able to yield a decent return...yet, if he is traded, who is going to score, and there is another hole to fill? Quite the conundrum with him. I'd resign him though.

4) They need to be smart in FA, as it is clear they can't fill all those holes in the draft and from current prospects, especially in the Top 6

It would be just like this franchise to trade one of their 3 good players. If that were to ever happen, I'm out. I don't know what the offers consisted of, but what player out there is worth it?

Even assuming you got for example, Doughty and 2 firsts plus a prospect, chances are you pick Tyler Myers and Drew Stafford in the first, the prospect becomes Hudson Fasching and Doughty is old by the time any of it matters.

I would not be dead set against the idea if the right offer came along. It could be a huge fix. It would have to be a pretty good offer. Top D prospect, top forward prospect, 1 or 2 1st rd'ers, eat one of our dead weight contracts. Something with some or most of these in the mix.

OEL, Keller and a 1st or two. They take Bogo, non-negotiable there.
