the team is getting outworked

out shot 2:1

who is leading the top 2 lines getting outworked 38 minutes a night?

- homiedclown

Jack is on the ice with 4 other guys at a time
Same with O’Reilly

Explain to me Edmonton, OEL, etc...
the logic of blaming individuals doesn’t hold up

you also shouldn't give him a pass

all I am saying, ror and eichel are not playing at the level they need to play at for this team to be good, let alone .500

- homiedclown

I dont. He has defensive shortcomings and he's not terrific on faceoffs. But when the D corps has 1 goal and his RW is in flux, it's not unexpected that his production is what it is

Oh my god, no.

ROR turns the puck over constantly. How he gets labelled as a 2-way forward, defensively responsible or compared to the great Chris Drury (You know he won a Little League World Series, right?) I can't figure out.

He's dreadful with the puck on his stick most of the time unless he isn't skating.

- BeadyEyedDouche

He's got 14 giveaways and 23 takeaways this year and over his career has 226 GV and 585 TK. Also is 61% on the dot. He's not the problem. I don't think anyone compared him to Drury, but said he's the best 2 way forward since Drury.

only thing close to it was a line they only had for a few weeks

max, kozlov, timmy

then kozlov caught a skate to the leg I think

"Buffalo's top line will consist of a cannon shot and two versatile centers. Ales Kotalik will join the tandem of Derek Roy and Chris Drury, who gelled during the Sabres playoff run."

that logic is saying the 5th-7th d men and bottom 5 guys up front is the reason we suck

that's not the case as all 4 lines are getting out shot and most importantly outworked

- homiedclown

What I’m saying is that we have 3rd liners playing on line 1&2
4th liners on the 3rd
3rd pair guys on the 2nd
Etc, etc, etc

I’m not disputing your effort point...
but over the course of a season,
talent > effort

We need more of BOTH

But shipping out the talent we do have isn’t gonna help
Not unless we get talent in return

And yes,
at the very least we should be giving better effort

Keep the talent we have
ADD more
Give better effort

All of the above is necessary for us to improve

They were great as a 3rd line

But when Roy & Vanek has to be top line guys for us, then we saw the decline

Not just bc they were on the top line
Also bc we didn’t have the depth behind them

Much like how we don’t have depth with Jack & ROR now

Defensive shortcomings is an understatement, i believe he has been the cause of every OT goal this year, or close to it. I feel like every 1 goal game we have lost has been due to Eichel giving it up or chasing down his stick to leave a man wide open.

and on the pp jack and ror are one the ice together

I assume that is due to the other 3 skaters, they get a pass

I got nothing as to why the PP is struggling this season

U really think it’s bc of leadership & effort though?
Were they better leaders last year?

Or we lose by 1 goal because the bottom 6 and D don't contribute goals. Why were complaining about the top 2 forwards when girgs, larsson, antipin, beaulieu, Moulson, Risto, McCabe, Nolan, griffith don't ever contribute is beyond me

The 29th and 28th place teams have what most consider 2 of the top 5 players in the entire game.

Now it's possible that those guys suddenly suck as well as eichel. Or it's possible that a team sport requires a competent team to compete rather than one or two good players.

Crazy thought I know but it's been a minute since the flat earth talk so I thought I'd throw something outlandish on here.

no clue

if they were average on the pp we would be higher in the standings though

and jack and ror get part of that blame

they had no business being in that hawk game, and the first team pp for the sabres is the main reason we lost a game

When did Pouliot start playing well?
Hmmm... pretty sure it’s when he was moved to RORs wing
Weird

I’ve also got my doubts that Pommer would be able to produce if he wasn’t playing with Jack

So u don’t think Jack & ROR make them better?
Sure seems like it

And if we had MORE legit talent (like Kane) playing on the wings in the top6,
then it’s reasonable to assume we’d be seeing better results
