"I don't remember being as happy as I was on the bench when Wingels scored that goal (in) a regular-season game."

quite a statement by 9 year mega star who has experienced many ups and downs during the regular seasons including a 9 game losing streak in 2012.

this suggest he and the other vets have been feeling the stress and anxiety to a higher degree than in years past: a regulation loss to the sabres @ home extending the losing streak to 6 games may have catalyzed a significant implosion on this team

Hartman has shown the grit and the tenacity this team needs. He was ready for a breakout season. Teams like Detroit during offseason wanted him...Why he is being benched just for minor double penalty against Washington which we got clobbered is stupid on the part of Coach Q.
Q doesn't have the guts to bench #7 #2 #19 #10 and #14 but only likes to pick on certain guys...

- shidler

I don't think he was or is going to really breakout. He looks like pretty much what he is at this point. He has to play with an edge and draw some penalties to be effective and I don't think we've seen that much this season. I've been disappointed with him so far this year.

They could help themselves and stop with the 12 passes on the power play and get the puck to the net. Funny how Bouma is showing them simple/effective hockey. I also think Q's voice has gone cold and this team is struggling on the ice because of it.

Maybe it is loyalty and trusting veteran players to not make mistakes.......but they have been making mistakes......whom do you trust....some veterans have nothing to play for, no challenge for them.....even Kane when he doesn't like his linemates Q hooked him up with.

Playing a team like Buffalo or Arizona is dangerous because players - too many of them - will not prepare properly in their mental approach to the game. Both visting teams have enough star power and hungry young players to enact an upset. The Blackhawks should not treat the Coyotes like some annoyance, like we can just show up and with minimal effort pull out a victory

Those Coyotes actually are like the coyotes whom populate our yards and streets. They appear harmless but will pounce on small pets and devour them.
The Coyotes hockey team will appear harmless but laziness on our behalf and these Coyotes too will strike.

Bears and Blackhawks are good enough to win today. But beware.

So you would move an NHL top 10 face-off player to the wing?
- riozzo

What’s the difference - he gets kicked out half the time anyways.

I was wondering this too. Is it an obligation that the center take all the faceoffs, at least to start? Could he play wing but still take the bulk of faceoffs for his line? Not sure if there's a rule or if it's just more of a convention.

Yeah you think thats a bit of an exaggeration? He has 612 FO's currently, averages about 1,600 a year. At the current rate he will hit about 1,720

So someone should replicate what Toews USED TO DO because the new style Toews is just another forward whom is less valuable. Toews is also someone you need to plan as being replaced at some unknown point......whenever the next concussion is one and done.

This is reality. This may have an affect upon whom you draft in the 2018 Entry Draft, round one with an earlier than usual selection. If Bowman trades that pick, then he is trading limited short term help knowing all the while that the team probably is facing a one and done IF they even get into the post season

I would not trade a piece of the future for someone whom is probably not a long term solution. The team needs to transition slowly from past core pieces to new youngsters whom could develop into new core pieces. There is really no other sensible way to proceed.

How ironic we complained about Bouma makes the team but he is an example of the perseverance, the attitude, the results we need others to put forth.

It is actually a telltale sign of what is wrong. It is foreshadowing when after the season Q steps down and Bowman makes another big trade. From playoff contender to rebuild....becomes official. Long run of success, even after stepping back we roared back twice to take Two more Cups. Now a rebuild leads to.....well better hockey....eventually

Need major changes as opposed to throwing darts at a board which is what's happening right now. Changing lines, bringing up Vinny, sitting Panik or Sharp or other similar moves will not change the current situation.

Toews, Seabs and Q should all be moved or fired.

This is what is needed to change the leadership, structure, motivation and infusion of youth and new talent.

Otherwise the merry go round continues.

Bad hockey, bad results, not fun to watch.

Can't say that on here all the Kane Cheerleaders will be out in full force tonight after he gets 3-4 points vs LOWLY ARZ

Hey Goalie 33,

Do you like any player? Just curious what you define as a good player?

Point of order:

"-- Patrick Kane on Tommy Wingels' short-handed goal last night that tied the game at 3-3 late in the third period."

Wingels tied the game at 2-2 with the shorty.

As far as I know - technically speaking you can have anyone but the goalie take a draw ... forwards switch around so often any more (not rod hockey) - just adjust back to whatever your primary position is... like if you are covering for someone else anyway.

Not commenting about whether it is a good idea or not. I don't actually think the problem is 19's ability to play center - he just isn't producing offense much -and based upon his cap hit ... well, that alone attracts criticism.

Why not let him play wing but still take the draws for the line. It’s unorthodox but at this point what do they have to lose?

I think this is a game of chess by the Blackhawk hierarchy, they know exactly what is going on, I am sure they have a strategy in place if not before the trade freeze, once the holidays are over, it seems like they are willing to give their young players a little bit more of a chance, and just tred water and hang close enough, I bet there will be a couple of significant moves right after the holidays especially now that they know what they can play with for next season. Everybody on here seems like knowledge hockey fans for the most part and some have a connect one way or the other, reading between the lines from mine, the coach the captain Patrick Kane and the GM are going nowhere, did not ask about Brent Seabrook, we have had three Stanley cups and a World Series in the last six years so I don’t think we should have too much to cry about and yes I know I am one of those fans that can be fickle also, It seems like we have lost some of our knowledgeable posters so my take is to just sit back let it play out and chime in now and then. Let’s get a win tonight boys!

Bowman has contingency plans. Each GM has thoughts, ideas to follow up on at one time or more throughout the season. Injuries, concussion, minor league recall can altar a plan. If you think really hard about the Blackhawks roster, how good and whom would a traded for coming to us......replace. Some on this board will bite and some will be passive insofar as trade acqusitions if going the other way is our 2018 #1.

Btw the new look Toews is nothing special to trade for. Seperate your heart from reality. His salary. His cap hit. For a so so scorer afraid to get hit. But he has all this experience. So what. He retires a Blackhawk. The only thing more wrong to do by another GM is to trade for Seabrook

If ever a time to move up in the draft, it is this year. The objective is to draft someone whom you feel becomes or has a ceiling to become a core player. It will cost us something which another team will view as helping them
move closer to a long Cup run.

Maybe Anisimov and that is about it. Unless Hartman had a couple good stretch of games, may some GM want this kind of player. A big maybe, but do not ever have the ooinion we have these pieces we could trade.

If a player goes in a trade, it is more likely to be for the purpose of improving our dman depth. We do not have what it takes to acquure a top offensive player. Bowman has no desire to trade his top offensive players. Not Toews. Maybe one of his lighyweight young guys IF
IF IF Sikura is good. Sikura, Schmaltz, DeBrincat one too many small quick guys. Could be. COULD BE.

Not Kane ever. Kane helps you win, is a difference maker now and especially later if the team improves both its quality and quality of depth players. Without Kane it is to start all over again

Keith would not go unless/ until at least one more young dman steps up. I personally hope that is someone we have already drafted.

Nobody wants a Seabrook in decline even if you give him away. Going to pay his salary - what about cap hit even if we pay his salary. The other team: no. Not even for a 7th round choice. Would you take Seabrook if you were another GM. To do so is plainly (yes, i will say) absolutely stupid.

Anyone know if Saad is playing through some sort of injury? Seems a step slow. Haven’t seen him take a few strides and leave a back checker in his dust for a while.

Possibly. It might also be due to the fact that they can’t seem to complete a pass in stride.

A couple of things,Q again doesn't play Kempley, why did we sign this guy in the off season,If Q didn't like last year, why didn't he tell Stan. And 2nd,why is it when the Hawks play against a new goalie, they can't figure him out.
